Chaplin 18:30 - Aug 2 with 900 views | IP1Blue | Think we miss him linking the play up, I like Szmodics but Chaplin links us up a lot better.

Chaplin on 18:34 - Aug 2 with 830 views | Churchman | Chaplin is a terrific player. I like the way he encourages those around him too. No sulks, just energy and try again. Szmodics? There was an awful lot to like about him first half of last season. Knows where the goal is, pressed well. Quite how this seasons team will fit together and where Sammy will play? No idea.

He was injured for a while, but also unconvinced of his link up like the OP.

Know it seems simple but the lay off to AAH, a lot of players would of just over hit or under hit it.
Chaplin on 19:18 - Aug 2 with 506 views | Bellevue_Blue | Agree, think he plays the position slightly better in terms on link up.
Chaplin on 19:22 - Aug 2 with 455 views | Nutkins_Return | I think what people miss with Szmodics is he's relentless. Doesn't stop running and very good in a press and putting pressure on without the ball. He's more physical then Chaplin. Both good but I think Szmodics does a lot of the unsung work as well. Chaplin is a great option starting some games and coming on as a finisher. They can share the load. Honestly I'd still love to see Broadhead tried in that role at times as well.

Chaplin on 19:23 - Aug 2 with 438 views | mellowblue | I really think Smodics is more of a second striker who tracks back rather than a pure 10, he needs someone creative behind him. Not sure how that would would tactically.
Chaplin on 19:38 - Aug 2 with 376 views | gsoly | Everyone who has been calling for Szmodics to play this exact role will now realise why McKenna’s been so reluctant to do it. He's simply not a back to goal player. As the above comment says, he’s essentially a second striker. That role will have its place this season, but we will see plenty of Chappers from the start. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Chaplin on 19:44 - Aug 2 with 323 views | Swansea_Blue | Chappers is massively underrated imo. Szmodics is obviously class, but I wouldn’t want to sacrifice Chappers for him. Whenever I saw Szmodics before he joined us he seemed to play on the right of a midfield 3, but narrow. A bit like n inside forward. If Hutch goes, I can see him moving to the right but with Johnson overlapping and providing the width.
