Lewis Travis 14:07 - Aug 13 with 1762 views | Bellevue_Blue | I'm pretty ambivalent towards him returning but I'm buoyed by the fact we are not in for him at present at £1.5M. That really does demonstrate the calibre of player we are trying to recruit. Long term captain, always available and someone KM knows well.

Lewis Travis on 15:33 - Aug 13 with 1182 views | Jrm_72 | I would be bang up for Travis as an able back up for Azor and someone to help teach him the role for the next year or so. Especially for only £1.5m. We need a back up for Azor, but someone who will understand he isn't ever going to get many minutes as Azor is the future of the role. That's gonna be a tough sell for most. Best chance is a 30+ yr old pro, and Travis would be younger, fitter and probably cheaper than most other options. For me, I see Travis as a smart buy, on the proviso we still drop good money on a Hackney-esque purchase as well.

Why do we need a backup? Azor does not need to learn the role from someone like Lewis Travis. He should do his learning from the coaches in training. What McKenna continually talks about is competition for places. Will Matusiwa push himself as hard as possible to improve if he knows he’s a safe pick every week? Get someone in of similar or better quality and let them fight for it.
Lewis Travis on 17:30 - Aug 13 with 795 views | ITFCSG | I'd gladly pay the £1.5 million if I was KM or MA just for Travis' leadership qualities even if he doesn't start every match We are lacking some leadership after the departure of Morsy, and Travis will probably be a better enforcer than O'Shea, Chappers or anyone in our team at present can

It's not all about the price tag. We need experience and leadership and he has both in abundance. Not ever player has to be for the future. Some in the here and now would be great for the youngsters to learn from.

I think he’d be a perfectly fine option and would bring a lot of what we’re missing with Morsy leaving. If the club wishes to splash out on a more expensive player, so be it. Price doesn’t always mean best fit and best option though. We certainly need another senior CM and it would be better to have someone experienced at this level.

Yes, but we can't expect every signing to be Hackney quality (we didn't get him in, after all) We're clearly short of depth in CM and Travis, or someone like him, would be a good option off the bench No one is suggesting he's a starter. We all know we're shopping in different markets now, but not every player in those markets is going to want to come here and not be a guaranteed starter! I also doubt Travis would want to come to a place he's not starting but if he's happy to compete then I'm all for it
Lewis Travis on 18:41 - Aug 13 with 461 views | PioneerBlue | It might have escaped everyone but the season has started and Hackney isn’t coming! However we are short of decent Centre Midfielders especially those with experience at this level.

When you go shopping you typically come home with something. Hackney already turned us down and now we are looking threadbare. Barbrook isn’t likely to be the cover a parachute team needs. Travis would bring experience and a bit of bottle. Ideally he’d be backup to someone of higher calibre but without reinforcements, we could be several games into the season and points dropped before the window closes.
