Probably in a minority of one, but not angry over Omari 06:54 - Aug 15 with 3384 views | thebooks | I’m pretty sanguine about Omari. Served us well and the football market is, to borrow a phrase, buoyant at the moment. It was pretty obvious he was going to move on after the last couple of seasons and the Euros – I don’t think pretending that he did anything but impress in a weak PL team is right. It’s a shame it wasn’t sorted out more quickly. That buoyancy is a problem for us at the moment as promoted and relegated teams are particularly vulnerable to offloading players and buying quality replacements who will most likely move on again. It doesn’t feel right that we only have two regular starters from the Championship promotion team just a couple of seasons on. Modern football, I guess. Less rooted in place and the squads are constructed like in the US, where players are traded quickly. Even solid PL Teams like Brighton and Bournemouth seem to have a huge turnover of players – but the fans seem quite happy with it. It’s how the likes of us and Burnley manage it.

Probably in a minority of one, but not angry over Omari on 14:03 - Aug 15 by Ryorry | Contrary to what some posters imagine, it's never been "anger to players who leave" (I've never seen that on this forum). It's anger at players who show disrespect towards the manager, team-mates and fans who've supported them, by refusing to honour their contract and play - for a wage most of us can only dream about. |
I suppose the anger I was getting at was the boos that some players receive when they come back which I don't understand. Will Keane springs to mind, and all it did was fire him up to score two goals. I just hope the manner of Hutchinson's departure doesn't lead to this, assuming we ever play in the same division as him again!
