I’m pretty sanguine about Omari. Served us well and the football market is, to borrow a phrase, buoyant at the moment.
It was pretty obvious he was going to move on after the last couple of seasons and the Euros – I don’t think pretending that he did anything but impress in a weak PL team is right.
It’s a shame it wasn’t sorted out more quickly.
That buoyancy is a problem for us at the moment as promoted and relegated teams are particularly vulnerable to offloading players and buying quality replacements who will most likely move on again. It doesn’t feel right that we only have two regular starters from the Championship promotion team just a couple of seasons on.
Modern football, I guess. Less rooted in place and the squads are constructed like in the US, where players are traded quickly. Even solid PL Teams like Brighton and Bournemouth seem to have a huge turnover of players – but the fans seem quite happy with it. It’s how the likes of us and Burnley manage it.

I've never understood why some fans show anger to players who leave given it is the nature of football that very few players stay at a club for their entire career.
I think it was clear early on that Omari was both very talented and very ambitious. Using Ipswich as a stepping stone suited both us and him, so I wish him well, although I am not sure if his ceiling is as high as Delap's
And there is an Elvis Costello song to sum up how I feel.

Without knowing the full story, the abuse Omari received was unwarranted.
Modern day football though, he served us well and scored some crucial goals which helped us achieve promotion. Glad it’s been sorted, both parties can move on, time to reinvest the money.

I'm not angry disappointed how he has let the club, staff , supporters and himself down by acting in a utterly immature way. Fully understand he wants to play top level it's the way of the world chucking your toys out of the pram. I want it done and dusted and we move forward.

I have no issues with Hutchinson leaving. It's the manner he's handled the situation which is the issue.
Personally, I am not surprised in the least that Omari has chosen to move on. I believe that Forest or Brentford, but Forest specifically, will be a good move for him - playing on the biggest stage for a good manager in a team on the up and surrounded by quality players.
The only aspect that I'm "upset" about is that he has chosen to withhold his services while the move goes through. I have no knowledge but I imagine that he has been badly advised on this.
Once the whole soap opera concludes, I will remember his contributions in a Town shirt with fondness and pride.
Good luck Omari, look forward to Town coming up against you again in the future as we continue on our upward trajectory.

I'm not angry.
Young man wants to do what's best for his career - move to the Prem.
The contract system is borderline slavery - forcing someone to stay with an employer against their will? Being owned by a club?
Accept he signed a contract - but if he wants to play then he has to join the system which is incredibly backwards in many respects.
How exactly can he get out of a contract legally - basically he can't. So he is forced to play "silly bugggers" and is being painted by some as a bad guy - simply for wanting to play at a higher level.
Doesn't make him a bad person, makes him an ambitious person. Hope he does well if/when he moves.
No where near the worst of it - think of Paul Ince posing in a Man U shirt when still a West Ham player.
Borderline slavery…that’s a bit of an OTT take tbh. Nobody forced him to sign a 5 year contract and earn the sort of money in a week that most of us earn in a year. He’s a professional. He should have played when asked to do so. I’m not angry with him but I’m disappointed with the way he’s acted.

Would Omari start for Forest even?

I can't imagine any club other than Chelsea signing a player for over 35 million to use as a bench warmer. He'll be a starter for Forest once settled in and then it's up to him to make the position his.

Not so much angry, dissapointed and dont see the need to wishing him well etc. If he doesn't have the courtesy of doing his job for our club, then the fans shouldn't imo be courteous back.
Just move on really. He's gone, he'll either have a cracking career, or slowly becomes a champ player whilst moving club to club.

The contract he signed included a release clause to allow him to move on in that scenario (which presumably he thought was reasonable given he signed it). Nobody would meet it, so not sure what more the club should be doing?

Yep, I don't understand the vitriol - players have always refused to play when transfers are at stake, however in right now it appears players are more comfortable in that being public knowledge, it's whatever.
An incredible talent but I do think he's ill advised to not stay here for the season, it could potentially set his development back IMO.
Either way, wishing him the best and hoping we bring in Ben Doak as his replacement.

I think it is a great deal for us. 35m really puts us in a good position with meeting the money rules in football. If invested wisely it will put us much stronger than last term.

I find the extreme reaction very strange, but then again I find most reactions, to any issue, on social media to be extreme & strange. Presumably most people are far less animated about it when discussing it face to face with other fans. For me £35m+ is a more than fair price for Omari, at this stage of his career, taking into account his potential. When word of his buyout clause came out, most commentators (incl. Blue Monday & KOA) were of the view that it was very unlikely that anyone would trigger it, given the PL season he just had. That was my thinking too; Omari did not light up the PL & very rarely managed to successfully take on PL defenders in the danger area in & around the box. As I've posted a few times previously, Omari's best work in possession, was when he went deep too pick up the ball & ran across the pitch evading tackles, rather than successfully penetrating the opposition box, in the way Enciso managed for example. His best game for us, imo, was away to Spurs, when I thought he worked his ass off, constantly taking pressue off our defence & midfield, giving their defence something to think about all the time. Having said all that, he was arguably the most significant reason for our promotion to PL over the last few months of that campaign, when we came again after a bit of a slump & when Leeds & Southampton had reeled us in. He was sensational for us during that period & was practically unplayable, scoring goal & setting up tap ins. When calculating the profit we'll get from selling him, we should also consider the value he provided to the club from achieving that promotion, that we probably wouldn't have gotten without him. (£37.5m - £22m) × 75% will still be a significant return in just 12 months.

I'm not even remotely angry, other than with the awful way some people on here have talked about someone that is essentially a kid, in a situation none of them can remotely begin to understand. He'll always mean a lot to me for the contribution he made here and I hope he goes on to be one of the best.
Poster getting angry at some other posters getting angry (in the immediate aftermath of losing a league cup game to lower league opposition) at a 21, not 16, year old ITFC hero refusing to honour his contract and do the job he’s being paid incredibly well to do.
There was a good chat on R5L the other week around the Brentford / Bournemouth / Brighton models and how they've managed to make themselves so attractive to emerging and PL-ready talent.
Pitch yourself as a gateway club for bigger future moves, practice what you preach (don't make leaving particularly difficult), and agents will trust you to advertise their shiny goods for a period. It doesn't mean selling players for peanuts but it doesn't mean playing hardball either. If you do play hardball, you're less likely to be trusted with the next batch of shiny goods.
Now Brentford are unwilling to lose Wissa this summer, but they've facilitated enough departures to still present themselves as a club which tries to accommodate agents and players in most circumstances.
