Chelsea again playing the system, or just good business? 14:33 - Aug 22 with 830 views | itfc1108 | -Signed central defender Renato Veiga from Basel last summer for £12million. - Given 7 year contract + 1 year option. -Makes 1 start before being loaned to Juventus in January 25 (Makes 13 apps) -Juventus pay Chelsea £4.2 million for this 6 month loan. -August 2025, regular central defender Levi Colwill injures anterior cruciate ligament and will miss most of season. -Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca declares they must enter the transfer market, to replace Colwill. -So Veiga, who was deemed worthy of an 8 year contract just a year earlier, and is now worth apparently £26 million (following his transfer today to Villareal), is not good enough now to step up. As well a the numerous other players they have on their books. -One season, one start + six sub appearances, £18.2 million profit. -The same will happen to Delap. If this is player trading, I really hope we don't become like them.
Chelsea again playing the system, or just good business? on 14:50 - Aug 22 with 687 views | Superblue95 | Players are worth what somebody will pay for them. Did Ghassan Ahadme do anything for us to warrant being sold for multiple times what we bought him for?

Chelsea again playing the system, or just good business? on 14:58 - Aug 22 with 600 views | FrimleyBlue | The value of a player is deemed by those the buyer is willing to pay Clarke altho he's not had a good time with town. Bet if he was sold we'd still sell with a profit as the buying club would see the potential plus he's had some prem experience. Most of our newer players if sold a year down the line would bring in a profit.

Even with just one appearance? My point was equally about their quick disposal of players, and not using what they have to replace an injured player. This player was only one year into a 7/8 year contract.

Yes you're right. I just think, that it is always their intention to do this with the young players they scour the world for. They might give them a small chance, but unless they are truly truly exceptional, they will be moved on for a large profit. Because they have Chelsea on their cv, it seems their transfer value increases greatly.

I do think there should be limits on stockpiling players the way that Chelsea do so that other clubs get the opportunity to sign a £12m bargain rather than paying double that a year later as a big club tax. But while the rules are as they are, they aren't doing anything wrong, and there's always the risk of them getting lumbered if the players turn out to be complete duds.

Chelsea again playing the system, or just good business? on 16:21 - Aug 22 with 247 views | CastroSito | Have a Chelsea mate who is a little ITK. The contract lengths are so long to entice the players to accept a slightly lower wage. 100k over 10 years guaranteed or 150k over 5 years. They're still on a slippery slope with needing to shift players , and there will come a point where they simply can't sell all these assets they have to make the books balance. He hates it. Just wishes they would be normal.
