Terrible refereeing at Stamford Bridge!! C*nut Thomas gave the vikings offside when he was clearly on! And they say history never repeats itself

I was going to say it looked just like a Beeb version of Game of Thrones, without the dragons. hadnt even realised theyd cast kingslayer in it, I mean come on seriously there was no one else they could find for that role?? hes a good actor dont get me wrong, love alot of the films he's been in, but what were they thinking, cast the guy best known for being a kingslayer in a show you are clearly directly copying the filmed look & feel for, as another quite literal king slayer. we can debate how much of English history George ripped off for his work, but he at least could fill the pages with interesting words, unlike this Wolf Hall meets Vikings attempt

I managed 10 minutes of it. It was the "Schlinnngggg!" of a sword being unsheathed that was the final straw. Particularly annoying when (yes, I know, like virtually everyone alive, blah blah) I can trace my ancestry back directly to Billy Conker hisself.

All of these historical 'dramas' these days, they are always made in such a twee, cosy, modernised, sanitised form with zero marks for grittiness or nuance or mystery or haphazardness. Absolute waste. The language and speech mannerisms would have been out of place in 1996, let alone 1066 - what a waste of an opportunity. When they pink-rinse-butchered my very favourite ever book series, Bernard Cornwell's Warlord trilogy, I swore I'd never watch another BBC adaptation again - in fact, I've kicked the sh!t out of every television I've seen since that day, on speculation that that abomination might have flickered across its screen.
