Which of us has the strongest bladder? 19:14 - Aug 27 with 509 views | Chris_ITFC | We could be a point off the play-offs with 1 game to go, and I’d still be McKenna in. 2 points off, and I’m wetting the bed. Calm answers only - how far would you back him? Or what would make your bladder burst in the night? No blubbing at the current state of play here please - there’s enough threads elsewhere for those that wish to debate that. Instant ban for the first to say: “This is the problem with our fanbase, they’re too soft.” etc.

I think that would be a bit harsh if we were 3rd on goal difference.

Which of us has the strongest bladder? on 19:26 - Aug 27 with 393 views | jasondozzell | He's given us the best football and best moments that the club has seen in the last 25 years. He's done it with class and style. Support works both ways. He's earned the loyalty. If we have a poor season and finish 10th I'd still want him to stay. In the old days bad seasons happened and people carried on. Can't stand all this 'if we don't do X I want him gone' culture that's emerged in football. I hope he's here for another 5 years and continues his excellent work.

Our previous managers weren't paid and backed as much as he has. That has to be a factor.

We have paid and are still paying a very, very large amount of money to get to the PL/back. I expect our owners would forgive top 6, but anything less and I think serious questions would be and should be asked.

I'll say this politely, outside of your loyalty to the club do you know much about the economics of parachute clubs these days? When you combine that with what we spent last summer its going to be the expectation and I imagine he would want to leave if we finished mid table and try for a fresh start anyway. Leeds kept Farke but got 90+ points and lost in the playoff final, that would obviously be a different discussion. Either way I would adjust your expectation as the people holding the money over this side of the pond won't be thinking the same way! [Post edited 27 Aug 19:35]

Which of us has the strongest bladder? on 19:38 - Aug 27 with 301 views | _clive_baker_ | McKenna is so far from being the issue. He’s a top coach, excellent man manager, you only have to hear what players say about him even after leaving to get a sense of how good he is. Saw a thing with Harry Maguire recently saying how well organised United were thanks to McKenna & Carrick when they came 3rd under Ole, and there’s countless others who wax lyrical about him. We’re lucky to have him, he’s not become a bad manager overnight and this rebuild will take time. I hope we don’t throw the baby out with the bath water though, I’d have a 1% confidence level in getting a replacement better than KM. Fans need to stick with it. Huge amount of change in a very short amount of time, but we’re still in the right hands.
Which of us has the strongest bladder? on 19:39 - Aug 27 with 289 views | J2BLUE | Really depends. If we're one point outside the play offs going into the last game then something has gone wrong. I think we will at least be top 4 and I still back him to deliver the top 2.

Context is everything though. What if we have a poor start but then everything clicks and we are third at that point after taking 19 points from 21?

I know how ruthless it is and the expectations with the financial muscle you have as a relegated team now. I'm just saying that I'd rather we were loyal to him even if we have a poor season. He's earned that I think. Ashton could go full John Cobbold and extend his contract in the face of supporters calling for his head.

If he doesn't continue his excellent work then he won't be here for another 5 years. Have to be challenging top 2 for me, especially if/when Leicester get their points deduction.

One way or another he will leave if we don't go up I think, maybe even if we do. If we don't make the playoffs it will for sure not be here next August

I agree will all of that, but our owners would not accept mid table. Losing in the play-offs is acceptable first time round, but anything less I think would be seen as disappointing for most. I will back KM all the way whilst he is here, not sure the owners would.

I do wonder IF the owners will take what ever result this season but promotion a must the next Reason being is in Bretts letter, it says that non promotion by the end of Next season would reduce their investment requirements (something like that)

You’re probably right, but I make mid table unlikely. Let’s see where we are in May but I’d be very surprised if we’re not at least in the top 6. In that scenario then personally I’d let him go again next season, don’t disagree with you that the owners might not be so lenient, it won’t be cheap though.
Which of us has the strongest bladder? on 19:59 - Aug 27 with 157 views | SuffolkPunchFC | We should be promoted this season, but football has a habit of ignoring ‘should’, and throwing a curve ball your way. I see this as a long term project, that was ahead of schedule. I have some patience, because we’ve needed to build from a very low place. The support infrastructure for the club had been decimated. This will take time to rebuild and re-establish. Yo-yoing is not an ambition, rather it’s somewhat inevitable when rebuilding for the PL. I’d rather we were better prepared when we next go up, and that may need a few more seasons. There are different routes to achieving that. My benchmark will be to see where we are in 3-4 years time, with the goal of being an established PL club. So unless we look like we’re heading back to L1, and the rebuild has stalled, I’m ok to give McKenna and the club a couple of seasons the build what’s needed for staying in the PL.

Which of us has the strongest bladder? on 20:29 - Aug 27 with 88 views | Bigalhunter | Automatic promotion in our hands going into the final game and the mattress cover stays in the cupboard. The money spent, the constant reassurances after Xmas that we had recruited a host of ‘cheat codes’ for the Championship, the parachute money all point to anything outside automatic promotion as abject failure for me. I genuinely have no faith in us successfully negotiating the play offs because it will almost inevitably involve a penalty shoot out at some stage, so anything less than top 2 will result in a copious flooding of the four poster. Finish outside the top 6 and I’ll become a sinister version of Goldilocks, soiling numerous beds and, much as I love KM, I shall be baying for his immediate removal to ease the burden on the washing machine. In reality, the owners will have acted long before it comes to anything as drastic as the final scenario. [Post edited 27 Aug 20:30]
