Better off Skint? 16:48 - Aug 28 with 1168 views | LA_Tractor_Boy | I don't mean better off skint under Marcus Evans, but under the current owners our '21 - '24 signings were much better value than the players signed for £££s since promotion to the PL. Davis, Burns, Chappers, Hirst, Broady, Morsy, Burgess, Luongo etc. were all fantastic value for money. Compare that with Muric, Greaves, Jaden and J Clarke who cost £60M+ and our 'player trading' model appears to have gone a bit t*ts up. Admittedly we did make a profit on Delap and Omari, but I can't see too much value for money in the current squad. Maybe I'm just sad that our B2B team will never be recreated.

Better off Skint? on 17:07 - Aug 28 with 985 views | Steve_M | You miss out Fraser, Pigott, Lee Evans and others we paid relatively good money for in third division terms but underperformed. Other than Muric, we're yet to take a loss on any of the players signed last Summer even if that might be the case with some of them.

Better off Skint? on 17:09 - Aug 28 with 968 views | TheBoyBlue | I've got nothing but good to say about those guys. They helped me fall back in love with the club and helped my children fall in love with the club. However, in the main they were all dropping down to a level below their level and even then it wasn't instant success. A number of those weren't able to get us out of L1 at the first attempt. Apart from Muric who was already experienced in the Premier League and I think everyone involved would say hasn't worked out, the others were moving up to a higher level then they had been used to and after three games back at this level is too soon to judge whether they have been bad signings. Time will tell, we need to support them and the other new signings and those already here, whatever their price tag, whatever their history.

That’s the model working, if model it is and I don’t believe it is, it’s just buying good players coaching them into better ones and inevitably selling them on when big bids come in.

Better off Skint? on 17:13 - Aug 28 with 916 views | SuperKieranMcKenna | It’s relative to where we are. Most of those were BIG money signings in League One. We spent more than the rest of the league combined- certainly wouldn’t have been doing that if we were skint (in fact it was triggered by a big money takeover). You said yourself we made a tidy profit on just two of our recent signings, now we are reinvesting and the biggest spenders in the league.

Yep that's the current model we are using.

Lee Evans didn’t underperform.

That’s not a model. That’s being a football club.

I do think we must be pretty hard negotiators actually and respect for that. There hasnt been too many panic buys or silly fees. The obvious 15m winger one hasnt gone too well but who knows he may come good now there is competition

Don’t we basically break even with Muric if the option is taken up?

Isn't there a potential £10 million sale for Muric if he does well?

Until it happens I’ve mentally filed that alongside a friendly with Lazio but true.
