Busy transfer deadline day expected? 07:36 - Sep 1 with 3622 views | greyhound | 5 out and 2 in would be my guess, Townsend, and one other to not be registered, expect a cm and a ball playing cb to come in. Should imagine we use the last loan slot we have. Would be surprised if we have the funds left to get another u21 signing that's good enough to start due to the premium they carry. Felt like mckenna has left the door open for a couple more additions in how he has spoken over the weekend.

Jack Clarke the left winger, being cover for a holding midfielder?
Busy transfer deadline day expected? on 10:11 - Sep 1 with 424 views | Garv | Apart from a development player on loan to cover CB I think we're done with incomings. We've got too many new players. Of course some were by necessity after so many players left unexpectedly, but we've really gone a bit crazy. While they're good signings, Egeli and Furlong weren't really needed when you've just paid £11m for MacAteer and have Ogbene available. Johnson and Young available with Clarke not far away, another RB did seem odd. I don't think we need another midfielder, Taylor and Humphreys can be perfectly adequate 4th and 5th choices. If Azor gets an injury and you're not confident about protecting the back 4 then you play a three. You've also got supposedly a well rated midfielder in Barbrook to come in if needed.

Busy transfer deadline day expected? on 09:33 - Sep 1 by BeachBlue | I like Jack Clarke and think he's lacking confidence and like Hurst and Szmodics, is feeling anxious and is hesitating slightly before each shot at goal and likely overthinking everything. Or maybe that's just me? |
Jack Clarke is my favourite Town player at the moment precisely because he doesn't fire off straight away, although he does seem to be the only one who can make those opportunities for himself rather than having the ball passed to him, he looks for better chances to shoot or to pass. Second tier sides are becoming just as adept as top division sides at closing off every opportunity and the rest of our attacking formation need to make themselves available more readily for the end result of those jinking runs that Clarke makes. True also for Philogene to a lesser extent at the moment. Maybe it just needs Akpon and Azon to bed in, and for Hirst to adopt a new position in their presence now. And for McAteer and Egeli to be accommodated as well. If only the League would allow us to field fourteen players...

McAteer is the most pointless signing to me. I hope he plays a part in 20 goals and shoves these words down my throat but I cannot see why we spent £12m on someone who seems so limited when we had Ogbene, Burns and Akpom and then brought in Egeli.

Agree on your right back point , but think there may be a chance Ben Johnson will be sold today… (Fulham rumoured early in window) . He didn’t start or come on Saturday after being a regular starter up until then , and as u say we didn’t need a right back otherwise.

Busy transfer deadline day expected? on 08:51 - Sep 1 by Metal_Hacker | Was your friend at the Preston game Guthers because I think his theory wouldn't hold up ? He looked totally uninterested , lazy and just lacking any sort of confidence [Post edited 1 Sep 8:54]

I was at the Preston game and I can assure you that, after Matusiwa, Jack Clarke was our best player. Before he was substituted he put in a shift, delivered a telling cross that Hirst failed to convert and another that could have even gone in if it had the slightest contact from anyone in our attack who had the gumption to see it, or a Preston defender hapless enough to try and clear it. This lack of confidence meme is becoming silly, as is the counter productive abuse of Clarke, it's just echo chamber stuff.

And I did go in a little two footed, thanks for the balanced reply. Also, it isn't just you who has been reported for abuse, someone hit the button on a Guthers post as well. Can only assume that a poster is on the forum whilst working up on scaffolding with their rigger gloves on.

Sell on potential I suppose, as mundane as that sounds. If McKenna thinks he can coach him like he did Omari (similar profiles when you look at appearances goals), then we could see him sold for a profit.
