12 Million...... 12:32 - Sep 1 with 2117 viewspetieboy2011

The way people keep harping on about Ipswich spending £12 million on McAteer is though it came out of their pockets rather than the clubs!

How about get over it, he's our player now and maybe get behind him and the team perhaps?

I do always find it funny/odd how much fans get het up about fees paid/received or how much we're paying a player. I get you want the club to manage things well and might disagree with what players are worth, but it's absolutely pointless debating it or genuinely getting upset about it, you have no idea in reality how much it actually affects finances behind the scenes.

Non stop negativity without having even been given a chance, that's a perfect environment to help get the best out of a new player.

Right got it.

Everyone is rooting for McAteer, everyone wants him to be a success, everyone is cheering him on in the stands.

But based on his body of work so far, pointing out that the 12 million fee seems very steep on a football forum is fine to do. If you disagree that is also fine. Not sure what what the big deal is.

It’s £200 million we’ve spent.

If we aren’t promoted this season or next, do you know what it means for the clubs future - for decades to come?!?

Maybe those concerned understand the consequences of wasting money, and not getting value.

£200 million spent V’s £10 million legacy squad, which is more effective?

You don’t get to spend.., spend.., and spend again when you keep getting it wrong!!!

We spent TWENTY TWO years outside the top flight doing exactly that before.

There ARE consequences. Learn about football finance. It’s as important as anything happening on the pitch.

It defines our future.

So no. £10 million on Ogbenne, Mcateer Greaves, Clarke etc etc etc ISNT OK.

What is this numpty smoking? We've spent less than £50m this season, while bringing in £75m. Even including the purchases from last season we're still sub £180m in purchases. After today's 2 exits are confirmed we'll have a net spend of about £92m since being promoted to the PL.

Stop making s**t up.

Where has the OP declared you can't debate it or have an opinion?

Are you saying no one can have an opinion about someone elses opinion?

I didn't say he/she had.

You really haven't got the point I'm making ......

We've also sold Broadhead, Hutchinson and Delap for a combined £80m or best part thereof.

What's the net spend since Gamechanger, and the net movement in the asset value. That's ultimately the test of whether we've got value.

We’re about £125M down on transfers over the last 4 seasons (approx).

It’s the amortised value of all last year’s signings that will be hitting the accounts at least this year and next (and maybe longer if we signed any on 4 yr contracts) that may come back to bite us if we don’t go up in the next two years. Obviously it needs to all be seen in the context of the full accounts. We might be fine, but someone would need to dip into the numbers more deeply.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?
