Ryder cup question 10:04 - Sep 28 with 728 viewsAxeldalai_lama

Do they still complete all singles matches? If Europe wins the first 3, for example, do they all carry on? I only really remember the close final hole deciders etc, and not an avid golf fan.
Seems like that could be a long slog with the crowd toddling off home, or generally being d1cks. Maybe they'd all stay and support but they've not covered themselves in glory so far.

Yes, every game is played to a conclusion.

Okay, thanks.
Kind of assumed as much thinking back.
USA will probably roar back into now and make every game count.

Yup and being an Ipswich, England and golf fan you can guarantee it will not be easy as it seems.

Yes they do, and their Head of State, whomsoever that may be, is obliged to stand at the 18th and congratulate each and every winning player as they come off.

I hope it rains.

Looking at the eight on each side who played yesterday "afternoon": one of the Americans played brilliantly, two played inconsistently but mostly well, the other five struggled, and some looked mentally shot.

In contrast at least five of the Europeans played brilliantly to well.

Europe needs two and a half points to retain. If those five get halved matches and EVERYBODY else loses for the Europeans, that is enough to retain.

Keegan Bradley didn't strike me as a Captain who can instill the belief required, yesterday. Real "Amorim during a penalty shootout" vibes crossed with Kryten from Red Dwarf with power failure.

The US will do better today playing for themselves, a matter of pride. They are getting $500,00 each although $300,000 of that has to go to charity.

Unless it's played in Blackburn, where it finishes after 79 minutes no matter what (apparently)

There was a farcical conclusion to the Solheim Cup in 2003 on the last day. Once Europe had clinched victory, all the Americans on the course wanted to stop playing & concede their matches but a face saving compromise was reached when the person who was up at the time was deemed to have won their singles match. Some rather generous concessions often arise once the overall match result has been determined.

I don't think how much they are being paid will make any difference to how well they play.

The Europeans are top golfers with everything to play for as well.

The Americans generally looked like they struggled to cope with the pressure whereas the Europeans generally seemed to channel the abuse into motivating them.

I fancy the Europeans to push hard for getting a record winning margin.
