It’s been really good to see him show his class in the last 2 games.
And maybe it’s somewhat crazy to think but I do wonder if we tweaked his role to play the right 10 a la Omari/Chappers we might be able to get him to another level and possibly be able to utilise Clarke from the start too or Szmodics in the left 10 where perhaps he looks more comfortable.
Doubt it’s for right now as the Leif/Jaden combination looks so effective,but I quite like the idea. |  | | |  |

I think he's so happy cutting in on the left there that you've got to just leave him to it now and have Clarke as a like for like for midweek/subs. It's a ridiculously strong couple of players to have for that role but it is having that depth over the years that has been our strong suit.

I'd leave him where he is at the moment, those combinations with Leif are getting really effective. It's the one area of the team, possibly alongside the CMs, we're seeing proper partnerships emerge.
I'd actually quite like to see Clarke start on the right, as it does feel like we've lost a bit of production there, Mcateer and Egali aren't the same sort of direct runners we're used to playing there, and it feels like we're still working out what we want to do with our right side while attacking. Egali wants to cut inside, but Furlong isn't a 'bust a gut for the overlap' type and Mcateer wants to operate in space. Clarke's ability to beat a man on the outside would be a great option there, if not a position he's entirely experienced in playing. |  | | |

I think playing from the left is where he's at his best so I wouldn't change it. Four goals already playing from that position, if it ain't broke then don't fix it. Appreciate what you're saying about getting Clarke into the side but I think we just have to live with Clarke and Philogene sharing the role where they both feel most comfortable rather than shifting one of them to a position they aren't as effective in to try and accommodate them both. |  |

Jaden has been at the club a little over 9 months, it goes to show what KM can do with a talent over a sustained period of time with I would assume a huge amount of effort and detail into his progression.
Great coach, never in doubt.
And as he said it takes time to develop players which we never had in the PL, one minute we were trying to get the ground up to standard / do the basics and the rest we know about. |  | | |

The system is working well at the moment. Why tamper with it?
Would only inhibit Walle Egeli and McAteer's development (not to mention that's where Burns plays when fit), while leaving us with less cover on the left or in the centre.
I'm not sure Szmodics is more comfortable on the left, anyway. He played centrally behind the striker for Blackburn and got all those goals. With us he seems to like drifting over to the right as much as the left. The Chaplin-style roving role is better than being stuck out wide. |  |

It's an OK idea, but every time he's played on the right, he's looked significantly worse. That's not even just here either; his form massively dropped off for Hull when they signed Fabio Carvalho and shifted Philogene out to the right.
He can play there in a pinch, but he's just nowhere near as good on the right. |  |
