In no way writing him off but he is beginning to echo what Leicester fans told us when he signed.
Struggling to see what he offers on the right at the minute - he works hard, but seems tepid to take on the man and get a cross in. I can’t really remember him doing anything of note in his first five games. Frustrating watch at times.

My main problem is his attitude: he comes across as a little bit of a self-entitled slight-almost-cheat in his play, rather than a team-player and one who gets on with playing. Not entirely, but more hinting in that direction.
I am not an expert, obviously, but perhaps it's more of a feeling over the past few games I have seen him play.
For example, Jack Clarke last night put in a good shift for the team, and took a lot of stick, yet just got on with his job. I don't think McAteer has quite that same attitude.

As i said last night, if Mendel is putting in performances against top prem u21 players, then he's got to start training with the first team imo. |
That standard is way below first team though. They may be top Pl u21 teams but they don't exactly shine against League 1 or 2 opposition in that Cup competition | |
