Two goals conceded in two games from pretty basic corners, and our delivery wasn't great against Bristol City.

We're poor defending them and poor implementing them. You'd think this team would be able to get the basics right. And have you noticed whenever we have a throw in, we look like rabbits in a headlight and more often than not end up punting it forward and lose the ball. |  |

Offensively we've often tried to overload the back post and Greaves/O'Shea have fairly regularly managed to get a head on it - either back across the box or towards goal - just without the end product.
Last night Hirst went over to Philogene and they were talking for a bit before the corner that led to Hirst's header that went just over. For that one our blockers did a good job of stopping the City defenders from moving out to Hirst who got his header away relatively unchallenged.
I think we are doing some things quite well attacking - the pay off will come. |  |

Whip the ball into the box & have your 4 or 5 best headers of the ball attacking it.

Yup - interesting to hear McKenna's comments on it last night "some details gone wrong". I think with the zonal approach we take everyone needs to know when to hold their zone and when to go and challenge. Against Pompey Kipre seemed late going for it, last night Furlong just seemed to miss his header with the blocker on the City player not keeping Furlong free to clear it. | |

problem for me with zonal marking is that the opposition big guys can target who they think they can dominate. You had McClean all over Philogene, complete physical mismatch. To be fair Norwich had a lot of corners and not much came from them (apart from the goal), so we did okay. Even the goal conceded via the corner was from a defender clearing header so we had done half the job. | | | |
