Jim Magilton spotted in The Golf this evening. 22:02 - Oct 4 with 3057 viewsITFC_Forever

Presumably here for the game, was having a couple of pints with John McGreal and others.

It’s a sign for tomorrow. Only he can lift the curse and had to be present to do so.

He’d have been sad not to have seen Rob the barman there on his return I’m sure to be sure.

He got sacked after winning the local Derby. Can anyone imagine that happening again ?

Just after the third goal went in the ITV camera showed Jim Magilton in the crowd with Tommy Smith next to him. It got awfully dusty in here.

He did the rounds in hospitality pre-match with Milts, did quite a nice pithy interview between them.

Made a good joke about us all wanting rid of him towards the end. I’d now really love for him to do a Q&A to get his thoughts on being sacked and the club/team going backwards under Keane/ME.

Crackers wasn’t it. Evans was going through his famous person infatuation stage.

I know it's a turn of phrase (and you're not saying it's the case) but let's be clear, not everyone wanted rid. I doubt it was even a majority.

Unfortunately Jim and the EADT came to metaphorical blows, firstly with Derek Deckchair and then Terry Hunt wading in with a piece calling on Evans to sack him. The EADT will have their own take of course, and I don't doubt the legitamacy of their defensiveness, but it was in my eyes a shameful polemic.

Then there was the embarrassing bedsheet protest by the Crunchers. Who got a bit of local press coverage, seeing as their positions were aligned. Embarrassing doesn't quite do it justice really. But hey, it all worked out didn't it. Not sure where the bedsheets were for the subsequent long years of utter sh1te, eh?

Absolutely right, I certainly didn't want Jim sacked and know plenty of others who felt the same.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

Yes, exactly. DDD and Hunt were ridiculous, short-termist and vindictive in their approach.

I’m glad Jim was there today for the win, it feels fitting.

That was actually a quote from the man himself! It was meant in jest though, and as things subsequently proved, we barely came close to a side as coherent as the one he assembled for a good few years, save for one play off campaign

Let alone the callous manner in which is was sacked which is on record.

Understand that new owners want their own man at the wheel but how ME treated Magilton was awful.

Was Jim the right manager to lead us forward, I doubt it but a bit of respect wouldn't have gone amiss.
