They're just embarrassing themselves now. Just take it on the chin and replay the bloody match.

Headline: "Ipswich 'decide' on giving Blackburn a goal in replayed match"

Article: "Ipswich Town have reportedly decided against gifting Blackburn Rovers an unopposed goall when the two replay their Championship fixture."

The headline contradicts the article itself! Sloppy journalism (but what more would you expect from that tatty rag).

I'm still waiting for the drivel after the game, if we lose, from the Blackburn head coach of "I didn't have to give the players any motivational talk tonight" blah blah

Not sure why there's any speculation about this, Kieran said it was a non-starter which hadn't even been considered a few days after the abandonment.

McKenna: The Right Decision and the Only Decision 26th Sep 2025 15:14
Town boss Kieran McKenna says the EFL’s decision to have the abandoned Blackburn Rovers match replayed in full was the right one and dismissed suggestions that the Blues should gift the Lancastrians a goal or play part of the match with 10 men. 12

I don't think it is sloppy journalism. Private Eye has pointed out that clickbait is the Express's modus operandi, and a headline such as this is intended to draw one in.

Aside from it being match-fixing, the conditions that led to the abandonment contributed to the score at the time and the red card.

Don't get me wrong, we got away with one that day, the same as we did when we played Leicester in settled snow and that we didn't at Oxford in the fog. But the suggestions proposed were never going to happen.
