Latvia aren't good but England are playing tidy football. Tuchel may be onto something. It's a huge change over Southgate in the last 4 or 5 games.

Seems to be on to something.

Mainly for once in a lifetime playing players who are in form

Who’d have thunk that’d work

Kane is world class and has been for a long time.

However, isn't Southgate's record as good as Tuchel's? Yes, they are playing some nice football tonight but I think we did against poorer sides at times with Southgate too.

We did indeed but this feels more systemic in an attacking way. There has been a slightly more cohesive approach. Early days but possible progress.

The biggest change is that Tuchel is playing players who fit a system, rather than trying to shoehorn all the big names in regardless of whether they work together. Which is what all England managers end up doing eventually. Let's hope Tuchel continues to avoid that trap.

Easy to do in qualifiers that no-one cares about, much harder to do in the glare of a tournament. We shall see.

Until we get to the world cup and we suddenly see foden. Palmer and Bellingham behind kane with Henderson in the midfield and walker at rb.

Do the sponsors have a say in the team or squads, I do wonder sometimes?

It seems to happen to often historically for it to be a coincidence

pretty much yes, the qualifiers for these tournaments now will always favour teams who are seeded, and with England comfortably in the top 10 thesedays its a pretty easy qualification route, Latvia are ranked below the Faroe Islands, 137th in the world. Yeah England should be beating teams like that 5-0.

the problems hit when England face a team from the top 10, which might not be to the knockout stages of the tournament now, as again the draw will favour the top seeds and keep them apart to begin with.

its like FIFA/UEFA dont like to lose countries with big audiences for their product or something ;)

so we shall see if Tuchel has cracked that nut yet next year, he's certainly playing a system to suit a team, rather than playing a collection of players.
