What's your team for Tuesday then? 18:40 - Oct 18 with 2764 viewsGlasgowBlue

Bearing in mind we have a three game week.

Palmer
Young (offers more going forward and we are at home)
O'Shea
Greaves (still prefer him to Kipre. His stats tell the real story)
Davis
Taylor (Matusiwa suspended)
Nunez (Cajuste not up to three games in a week)
Clarke (deserves a start)
Akpom (Szmods has a recurring ankle injury so we don't want to push him)
McAteer (Sindre likewise with injury)
Azon (Hirst in poor form and lacking confidence. Azon looks sharp)

To me Taylor has never looked comfortable as a holding midfielder. He seems an 8, so does not fit seamlessly into our system. I feel Cajuste is similar the difference being he looks easily capable of playing in the Premier league whilst Taylor looks a million miles off that. So, I would be playing Nunez alongside Cajuste.

We could also perhaps see Ashley Young play the DM role which i understand he has done before, IF KM doesn't feel comfortable with Taylor or Nunez there...

Think Ben Johnson would likely be ahead of Young in that role, has played a handful of games for West Ham under Moyes there.

I don't think that in a three game week you can leave Clarke on the bench. He has to play full games to keep him motivated and on the same page as McKenna.

Yeah, don't disagree. Philogene is only in there because he seems to guarantee goals at home. His overall performances would see him being lucky to get on the bench if I was manager, to be brutally honest.

I don't love Jack Clarke but he's more enjoyable to watch than JP, and at least looks up for it.

Charlton!

Joking aside, I agree with a fair amount of this team.

We're at home, we should be on the front foot, and there's no law against a sub on or before the 60th minute (someone tell Kieran). That being the case, I would be tempted given Young a run out.

For all Greaves' positivity going forward, I feel that we need to have a settled CB pairing. Kipre has made one clanger. I don't think you chop and change a CB pairing for just one incident, and Kipre has been our MOM at home for the last two games. I'd stick with Kipre for now.

Nunez definitely starts. Then it's a question of whether Cajuste can manage it. He's only 26, he really should be able to, and with the best will in the world, he didn't work his socks off at Boro. If not, then Taylor, but really...

I'd be tempted to start with Clarke and Philogene with Sindre coming on. I like the latter, and he's very young, so I would give him some slack myself. Have never understood the huge money on McAteer. Not. At. All. But then it's a squad game, so whatever.

Akpom and Smodders have each contributed an insufficient amount so far this season. Is our system the problem? They've been class elsewhere. Just saying. Toss a coin, frankly.

Azon up front. His John Wark cup final tribute act of always finding the post shows a commendable knowledge of the club's glorious past. Also, this season, Hirst is just not a top 6 striker. We need one. Azon may just show himself to be that man. Otherwise Jimmy January really needs to hit the ground running.

JClarke on pens. Please. Missing pens is a costly business.

We need to beat a top half team, and Charlton are hardly Coventry. So far we have wins against the teams in 14th, 20th and 23rd, all at home. I would love some evidence that we might prove good enough to fight at the top end of the table.
