Cajuste & Nunez 15:00 - Oct 22 with 1461 viewsitfc_bucks

I'm going to stick my head over the parapet here, but I didn't see what do many of you banged on about him when we were in the Prem, I don't see the "cheat code" that so many said he would be in the Championship and I see no evidence of it appearing.

A passenger.

Meanwhile, I'll repeat what I said about Nunez after his debut - the bloke ran around like a competition winner. Loads of enthusiasm but naff all product. Same again last night, shooting from anywhere. Don't mind that so much from the Norwegian lad, that's the impetuous of youth, but a player like Nunez ought to know better.

Especially curling wide on his wrong foot by 6 fkin yards...

Not much of a parapet when about 90% of the posts about Cajuste on here are people slagging him off!

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

Cajuste has the ability to be the best CM this league has ever witnessed

Problem is, I don't think his body can actually do it

He kinda looks like he can go at it for 2 minutes, then reset for 5, then go again for 2, then reset for 5.

That's why we get moments where we watch him and go coorrr as he turns and beats 2/3 players, then you watch him after that and hes walking around whilst they jog past him.

a niche perspective

Nunez really was bad yesterday but then again most the team were. I was looking forward to seeing some of these amazing free kicks, corners, crosses but most were massively over hit. Cajuste you can see is a massively technical player and is a joy to watch on occasions but the way we play he is too far deep for any cool stuff he does to actually turn into something productive or a goal scoring opportunity. The chances he also got were all unfortunately scuffed. It’s a shame he wasn’t fitter or could last longer but then again if he could then he wouldn’t be here. I would be inclined to almost play him as a 10 as his skill to get past the player and turn in tight space is apparent but again when he does it deep it doesn’t really make any difference and after 10-15 yards he gets tackled. He’s very similar to morsel in way just no where near as much stamina.

But what is this ability to be the best CM this league has ever witnessed? I don't get it. A quality midfielder could well have many strings to his bow - but Cajuste just has the party trick of turning a close opponent and carrying tbe ball for a few seconds. He's very good at that. But he's very average at tackling, nothing special at passing, cannot control the tempo of the game, has a terrible engine, is not a goal scorer, not a dead ball specialist.... so this absurb delusion that he could be the best CM in tbe league if he was fitter is ridiculous.

Cajuste is starting to become an easy target and he is capable of doing good things..... but his fans I don't understand. They get so excited over a fancy bit of skill which usually leads to nothing 2 or 3 times a game.... and completely ignore all the other nothingness, giving the ball away, lack of energy, and the inability to last more than 60 mins. It's like they're trying to convince themselves we have a special talent here, even though Burnley only had a passing interest in him and a Saudi club. No one good wanted him.... hence he ended up here. Yet... he's apparently too good for this league.

We should try cajuste in a deeper 10 role with two defensive minded mids holding.

Or he is nowhere near fit, thus needs to rehab

The only Muff in Town.

Please note, i will be rejecting all acusations of sour grapes.

* from a mate who plays 5 aside with a guy who used to play amateur football with him back home.

Thought Nunez was decent in the first half. Always showing for the ball and involved in some good interplay. His shooting boots were off but I'd rather see someone have a go rather than constantly trying to walk the ball in the net. Last time we got promoted we scored a number of deflected goals. I don't have a problem with him having a go

It's not as some pundits said last year, he was a very highly thought of player, his technical ability is top class. But im afraid his body doesnt allow for us to see the full version of him imo

"They get so excited over a fancy bit of skill which usually leads to nothing 2 or 3 times a game."

I've pretty much explained that I felt, that bit of excitment is what makes you appreciate him, but the rest is like you say though why he's back at town.

I won't say he's too good for the league, he has the natural ability but i don't think he can fulfil it.

The club are worried about his knees and reason why he may struggle in the end

I think the problem yesterday, neither of them knew who was supposed to be doing the holding role of Matusiwa. Getting in each other's way rather than complementing each other.
