Anyone watching?

I know I'm in a minority, posting on a football forum as a 40-something woman, but I've found it incredibly relevant to me. More so, because I use songwriting and music to express how I feel. I've seen some very scathing reviews saying it isn't relevant, but to me it is absolutely striking many chords, including feeling like you are invisible and feelings of not wanting to be here. Those, thankfully, are occasional thoughts, not daily thoughts.

If anyone out there is peri-/menopausal or has a partner in this phase of life, it does touch on some very important issues that might help you relate to your self/partner. Whilst also being outrageously ridiculous in places too! 😂

Anyhoo. Wishing you all a happy weekend.

Yep, have been thoroughly enjoying it - wondered if anyone else had been too. Of course it’s relevant! Would be a weird or ignorant reviewer who thinks it isn’t.

It’s brilliant - funny, imaginative, original - BBC off the leash - irrespective of gender or age, though of course it does strike extra chords for us women over 40.

Best thing on TV so far this year for me. The lead singer’s voice is extraordinary, as are the songs. Just hope the sub-plot/s don’t start stretching credibility too much.

If you ever feel like a chat btw, I’m often up in the wee small hours.

I enjoyed it. I like any let’s form a band type yarns. If you accept quickly that it’s got a feminine agenda and that men are going to get a kicking (all the men are complete prats in it) then it’s easy to enjoy. The music and acting is great.

After watching 2 episodes Miss Slave's considered review is, "it's alright."

"They break our legs and tell us to be grateful when they offer us crutches."

I started out thinking it was great but am starting to cool a bit; I don't think it's up to Sally Wainwright's usual standard but suspect it was written for a broader audience than, say, the visceral Happy Valley. The subplots are already getting a bit "Oh, they're not going to....? Aww dammit, they did" for my liking. It's fine and I'll watch it to the end but had hoped for something a bit tougher but Tamsin Greig, fine actress that she is, is very one dimensional and tends to be the milk in any coffee, adding a degree of blandness somehow.

7/10
