Too clarify - I want him to stay and would be gutted if he left!
But I also think at this stage it makes so much sense! He’s got nothing left to prove here at all in anyway and will go down as a legend! We’ve had a poor start to the season and I almost get the sense that he wasn’t the most happy with what happened in the summer considering he made it clear he wanted signings in early. People would also view it as a failure if we didn’t go up and can escape all of that talk.
On top of that for the club -on very high wages so for Ashton and the ownership group would be tempting to get off of the books on top of significant compensation (I’m sure they would agree a deal of some sort and not the £10m reported in his contract).Also saves them money in the future if they did want to get rid for any sort of reason.
And for Celtic - A young new manager who would be perfect for a rebuild which is what they need right now! Almost has no pressure on him as there 8 points adrift so has a free hit until the end of the season.
If he does well there, ange showed that he can get a big job off the back of it!

100% sure he'd be off if offered the job , Celtic and Rangers are massive...even if the Scottish premier League is equivalent to our Championship..did have a look on good old Google and couldn't find and proof he's has catholic or proddy blood running through his Irish veins though.

I wonder if Celtic would match his salary at Ipswich. Apparently Rodgers' base salary was 2.3 million.

Yes makes a lot of sense. I would probably be at my least surprised should this happen mainly based on the last year, squad rip up and far from simple restart to life in the champ. Clearly the old feel good is gone and we are at the start of building something new, with or without KMck. If he’s fully committed, great we are all in for the season and beyond but, if not, weve been here before and the focus needs to be the team and results not the manager merry-go-round. | |
