I don't get it, what are the EPL moaning about, why can't games scheduled for Sat 27th just be played Fri 26th then they can meet the tradition of boxing day games. They DON'T have to play on weekends, they are happy to move at any opportunity that is commercially advantageous which is why I guess they are playing so many games on 27th and 28th.

I agree, tradition doesn't matter any more to those running the game. It is all about expanding competitions, saturation TV coverage and advertising, and making more and more money. Whoever wants the UEFA Conference League, especially given the massive expansion of their other two competitions?!

I want Ipswich to play at the highest level, but it is a real downside of promotion knowing what the Premier League is now like.

So of EPL own making then as in the contract they could have agreed an exception clause when boxing day occurs on X day(s) of the week that impacts a weekend schedule.

Play 6 games boxing day, 2 on Sat and 2 on Sunday or some combination applicable to ensure games are played when clubs usually guaranteed higher attendances.

Load of bolløcks surely, could’ve had 4/5 Boxing Day games if so and the rest over the weekend.

Besides, Boxing Day being a Friday should count towards the weekend total.

On the positive side it's great news for the lower leagues, their attendances should get a real lift.

The armchair viewer through Sky and TNT, or their equivalent around the world are behind the changes. Subscriptions are king, far more important to them than fans going through turnstiles. In turn the TV money is more important to the club than gate money.

There were great swathes of empty yellow seats all the way through the wolves burnley game last weekend.

Also last couple of times I’ve seen west ham on the telly.
