It must be one of the worst walls I've seen in a professional game.

I wonder if the keep asked for it to be so far over so that he could see if Nunez was going goalkeeper side again... it doesn't really cover the near side

It looks much too far over to the left (as we view it). The guy on the end isn't protecting anything.

Also, the deflection doesn't look as big from that angle (it looked massive to me on Town TV).

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

It does protect from a left footer (Leif) getting an inswinger round the left hand side of the wall (as Nunez/Leif are facing it) and on target.

That would actually be a smart play in the future when all the keepers are expecting the right footed Nunez to be trying to bend it with his right foot.

The first one wasn't great either, though a better strike obviously.

I thought (especially for the first free-kick) that the goalkeeper was uncertain which way the delivery was coming, what with both Núñez and Davis shaping up to take the kick.

A classic old ploy, that we should utilise more often.

The wall is surely placed for a left footer to take, not a right - otherwise it;s not even protecting the goal!

The irony is that it was off target until the defection.

Davis made a point of looking around the left side of the wall and the wall moved as a result.

It may be that the bend Nunez got on freekick 1 made them wary of a left footer doing the same on freekick 2.

Either way, I think that may be an explanation/excuse for the middle guy, but the guy on the left (as we look at it) is surely just very mis-positioned. Still gotta hit a decent shot though, and we've had the odd deflection against us (Norwich's goal?), so happy days.

What they needed was someone to lie down behind the wall. What's that called again?
