That's a real shame for twice unsuccessful Tory Council candidate Tim Davie who seems to have been caught up in a few issues whilst there

Really!!
They seem terrified of calling out the genocidal Israeli regime
Thought the sacking was due to editing Trump
The irony of that is incredible

The Trump editing is part of the same report.

"Prescott told bosses including Samir Shah, the BBC chair, and Tim Davie, the director-general, that the BBC’s coverage of Gaza was biased. “The errors come thick and fast, sometimes with ‘eyewitness’ testimony from locals who have tweeted in praise of the October 7 killings and worse,” Prescott said. “The BBC needs to accept it has systemic issues with the coverage. Only then can the process properly begin to fix the problem.”

The claims appeared in the 19-page document, which also said the BBC misrepresented a speech by President Trump given on the day of the Capitol riots.

I'm making no comment on the actions of the Israeli government. Only linking the report of the internal memo which has cost Davie his job.

I'm confused by the point you are trying to make.

Are you accepting the finding in the document regarding the Trump edit but rejecting the findings in the document regarding alleged bias in its reporting of Israel’s war in Gaza?

Are you accepting that the memo exists when the Guardian reports it's existence but reject it's existence when the Telegraph reports it existence?

Are you saying that Davie has been hounded out and should remain in post?

And it’s not just a “memo from one person”. It’s a 20 page document from Michael Prescott, a former independent external adviser to the broadcaster's editorial standards committee. The Beeb sat on this for six months.

And what is the GB News whatabouttery? How is GB News reevent?

Probably best to leave it there as I'm not sure even you know your own position in this.

I accept the memo exists
Just a little sceptical that one person's opinion gets turned into fact re the alleged bias.
The Trump editing is factual and was stupid imo
Not sure that justifies his removal though
But this is just my own opinion and accept other people will come to different conclusions

the bbc's problem is that while at a senior level, and throughout management and it's senior journalists, it has an absolute commitment to impartiality, that isn't replicated at the level of researchers and junior reporters. it's intake of recent graduates at that lower level is not at all diverse in terms of their views and on a range of political and social issues many of them just don't recognise their bias or the need for impartiality. in terms of story selection, and who they interview, and what take they highlight there is too often an obvious lack of political diversity amongst those doing the research and bookings etc.

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

I have to say I feel a bit sorry for him (on this matter) as it wasn't actually the BBC that made the episode in question (and the same for the infamous 'How to survive in a war zone' documentary about Gaza).

I wonder whether it would be better for the BBC to take this sort of stuff back in house (I was surprised to find out they don't make Panorama themselves) and have proper editorial control rather than outsourcing it to private companies that won't necessarily have the same standards (even if the contracts say they must).
