Preston, Charlton, Wrexham and now Oxford 22:37 - Nov 28 with 995 viewsTrequartista

All games where I thought we dominated and if we'd play the game again we'd win 8 times out of 10.

To happen four times now though a pattern has formed, rather than an unlucky night, and there are problems we need to sort out to avoid repeats.

Which begs the question, why aren't we learning from those games?

That's my point, I don't want this put down as a bad day at the office and just say we'd win it on another occasion, too many games like this now, we need to come out and say we need to look at these games and work out how they are going wrong.

"pattern has formed" - in key moments, over and over again, we bottle it. At both ends, but mostly in attack. It's about personality, character, leadership, team spirit, and composure under pressure. Choosing between final pass or shot. Are we a team or a collection of individuals? Team goal or chance of a YouTube montage hit for yourself? Wrong decisions over and again.

Depends on how you define dominating. We had a lot of possession in the 1st half and looked comfortable enough (stupid goal aside) but we didn’t create much and couldn’t force a shot on target. It’s all a bit predictable.

Because we have a squad made up of mostly uninterested players and/or prima donnas who think they are too good for this league who just go through the motions on matchday plus a stubborn one-dimensional manager who insists on sticking on the same old even though when it is shown not to be effective, and is totally clueless against teams playing the low block

Sure a lot of the possession was O'Shea and Kipre knocking it back to each other and agree again there was no end product, but I thought we were just winning the ball back off Oxford as soon as they got it, we were clearly the better team, but something wrong at both ends of the pitch, and it's not the first time.

Teams will let you dominate in areas that pose no danger.

Poll: Would Lambert have acheived better results than Cook if given the same resources

We were very lucky not to be on the wrong side against Hull, for the injuries they have, we still made a meal out of that game and the only difference was that we took our chances in the same position they couldn't in the first half.
That performance wasn't good enough despite the win. We can't only manage 2 wins in a row and call it progress. We are now heading into December.
The more I think about it the more I find it unacceptable that we've only managed 2 wins in a row, not even winning our last 3 home games; of which came against Charlton (and losing 3-0!!!!), not beating Watford, and not beating Wrexham, only scoring once in those 3 games.

Admittedly, this is cherry-picking, but I'd like to make this point so that we understand how many games we are failing to take our chances in.
29 goals so far this season LOOKS good, but 13 of those goals came from a 5-0 against Sheff Utd, and the 4-1s against QPR and Swansea away.
The only other game we scored 3 or more was against Norwich, who are overwhelmingly falling so far below their standards, with an injury crisis, and only just picked up their first point at home against the side we just lost 2-1 to.
In the other 13 games, we've only scored 13 goals. That is unbelievably poor. It would be fine if we were trying to be Scott Parker's Burnley side from last season. We're not. We are trying to play toe to toe with the opposition. This is a massive worry for me.

So what’s the answer - Charlton were one of the worst teams I’ve ever seen, Wrexham one of the worst games I’ve ever seen and Oxford🙈🤷‍♂️1 point from 9 ffs.

He's right that it wasn't a bad performance but "On another day we play that game again and definitely go on and win it."

You can't keep saying that.

Because half the starting 11 will be changed on Tuesday so dont get the chance to act on what they learned.

All that money spent on players by us this summer, yet we really look a bang average Championship side. We got beaten last night by an Oxford team that simply works hard and wanted it more and that is difficult to stomach.

Poll: Where are we going to finish?
