Get behind the team 22:16 - Dec 2 with 1436 viewsjasondozzell

I'll have a swing at it.

Proper championship game. Not always pretty. But I'd rather watch that than Premier league anyday.

Poor from Town.

But support has got to get the back to back out of their heads. That was fairytale football. Once in a lifetime stuff. Most seasons are not like that and even successful ones are bloody hard work.

Are we below par and struggling a bit at the moment? Yes. Why? Very simple. This team has been together for 12 games or so. KM is trying to use squad strength. It's the right decision imo but it is tricky balance to strike and his methods are always long term and not short term. And we've had a good number of players not start their Town careers in the best form. Teams are setting up to frustrate us and we're there to be shot at this time round. We're also under huge pressure a lot of which is coming from our own support who demand this be a stylish easy stroll to an auto place. It's the championship. What did anyone expect?

I want this new team to succeed so much. Get behind the team. You either do that or the moaning and ridiculous hyperbole just adds to the pressure. And it's entitled to think it should be a fantastic season strolling to the title and if it's not it's a 'disgrace' 'outrage' etc.

Hopefully the Egeli equaliser wakes us all up. This is the good stuff! We're in a proper scrap and battle in this league. For nearly two decades we had virtually nothing to fight for. We do now and it's a privilege because the club has ambition again.

No moaning on Sat. Just get behind them. Who knows what will happen this season. That's the football drug.

And show KM some respect. 'he's got to go for me'. Behave yourself.

Cheers. And I agree. Some seem to think football should just be winning and enjoying winning. We've been totally spoilt.

In a strange way I think the struggle is maybe needed. Gives it all a bit of bite and a chance for this team to prove people wrong. Feels personal with this season now! Egeli equaliser could be a big goal.

We've been spoilt for 2 prior seasons. It's hardly a long time. We had time to adjust back last season.

The fact we've gone really boring surprises me. It's hard to watch and really frustrating.

Anyone who was around in the Hirst/Lambert relegation season would know this is a lot better, and that wasn't long ago.

Your post reads like you’re saying McKenna is knowingly putting out sub par sides for the good of the squad

That's pretty much what he's doing but I wouldn't call it sub par.

He's trying to give us the chance to finish strongly from the bench and get everyone up to speed.

If you thrash the same front four every week then you're in trouble is 1/2 of those get injured and Akpom/Nunez/mcAteer/Azon have spent 20 games plus just sitting on the bench and getting 5 minutes.

Over time KM's approach will work.

Coventry are 15 points ahead of us but seem to have ‘first choices’

We were never as low as this last time we were in the league and had clear ‘first choices’

Why would anyone sacrifice 70 minutes of a game for the good of the last 20

I agree with a fair amount of that. We're still hugely a work in progress. KM has been telling us that too.

But I think the quality is obviously there and we're fighting. Let's see. Don't underestimate KM. He is astute.

Big game on Sat.

I love the championship!

“Work in progress” is the excuse though. How much has been spent in the last two years? More than a lot of other championship clubs, maybe even all of them. Chopping and changing and terrible performances from expensive substitutes is not good enough. For me anyway. Maybe it is for you.

I responded by telling the OP to bore off due to his incessant positivity around situations which are overwhelmingly negative, very soon after games have finished and when tensions are high. I think these posts are deliberately antagonistic and as such I responded in kind.

Posting negatively on a forum does not indicate that I am not behind the team, I will be in attendance on Saturday (will you?) and will be vocal in my support. However, expressing my frustrations on this forum is well within my rights as a fan - it is more than healthy for football fans to express their thoughts on how situations could improve without you two observing from your high horses and telling us nothing is wrong.

” However, expressing my frustrations on this forum is well within my rights as a fan.”

And yet it seems you don’t like others to express their, and want to shut them down. Ironic.

Gentlemen

The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

McKenna will not be satisfied and I am sure he will be doing his best to put it right.
I've watched all of the last 3 either at the game or on TV.

We were wasteful against Oxford and arguably could have won.

Tonight we were poor, the game was poor and was driven mainly by Blackburn's intensity to right their perceived wrong from September.

So we exit 3 away games in a week with 4 pts - No disaster if we can get the home form up and running v Coventry and Stoke. We have the quality to achieve this.

Whilst I accept the performances aren't what we want and ultimately they will need to improve to get the season motoring, its still 1 defeat in 8 with 2 home games to come.

Its still all to play for at this stage.

A few hours ago it was 3 points of 2nd with a game in hand, now we are 5 points off with no games in hand.

Surely even you can see we are massively under performing this season? It's not spoilt it's realistic expectations as a parachute club.

We're under performing. No doubt about it. But so what? It would be a dull sport if every team performed exactly as expected.

We're in touching distance of where we want to be. We will improve.

Parachute clubs don't have a divine right to top two places all season.

As optimistic as ever, and I do admire you for that, especially after watching tonight.

Awful game, awful watch, standard was horrendous, and borderline comedic at times.

No where near where we need to be, so much work to do.

Said before, will say again. This rebuild needs a renovation already.

Doesn't matter how expensive players are. They need to be integrated and to settle.

We have had huge change over the summer. KM is a young coach. It's a big challenge for him. But I would not ever bet against him.

Don’t disagree with this sentiment - but as Ambrose said on TownTV, if we’re in touching distance of the top 2 come Jan 1st, then we have the 2nd half of the season to pull it together, and push for a top 2 finish.

Despite some poor games (and most of tonight was very disappointing), we’re still in the mix.

Fair points.

I think some of it is because in the PL KM felt he couldn't really change it from bench much. I think he and club wanted to build a squad where you could.

I think it is the right decision long term.
