Kieran’s properly p*ssed with the fanbase by
Guthrum 5 Dec 17:36I'm not sure McKenna is so much p*ssed off with the fanbase, as concerned at the effect the prevailing mood-change could have (maybe is having) upon the players and the matchday atmosphere.
The fragility of supporter morale - from the high of finally beating Norwich to the plunge initiated by Oxford - can easily infect those on the pitch. Lack of raucous driving the team on, as we notably had during the promotion seasons. Players become more cautious, afraid to make mistakes and draw annoyance from the stands. Or get rid of the ball with more rapidity than care. Grumbling begets grumbling as negative play is reinforced by poor results.
It's not so much criticising as fighting to retain (regain?) a valuable element which helped propel us upward. With the team not yet firing consistently, Town need all the help we can get. Think of it in terms of a rallying cry, not McCarthy shouting "Fck off" at the fans.
