What a time for Hearts to pick up their first win in five 18:49 - Dec 7 with 443 viewsMiaow

Ending Celtic's five-match winning run with victory at Parkhead.

They've now beaten them twice this season.

Celtic are now three points behind with a game in hand.

Yeah Hearts really needed that. Rangers not completely out of the race since sacking Martin.

Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over

“They've now beaten them twice this season”.

Just another 14 times to play each other in the league then. It’s a very strange set up up there. I’ve never worked out how the back end of the season works when they start doing odd things with how the table’s structured.

It’s good to see it not just be a two horse race though. I’m looking forward to Scotland’s appearances in the WC too.

To be fair it IS still a two horse race, just one of the horses isn't one of the usual horses.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Having just looked at the table, that’s a good point!

They play each other 3 times so 33 games - and then the league splits into a top6 / bottom6 when you then play the other 5 teams in your half.

The hope is that the split will end up with each team playing 2 home and 2 away against each other but that rarely happens. However, the only thing that is a certainty is that Celtic and Rangers will have 19 home and 19 away - normally someone else will get 18 / 20. And on occasion a team like Hearts will go to Ibrox 3 times!

With the difference in resources - i.e. 2 teams have 90% of the money - it's so hard for anyone else to win the league as you will play 8 games against the OF. The chances of coming out on top in that scenario is very small - although Hearts have made a great start this season.

And just in case someone dares to upset the applecart then the referees and VAR will step in....

You really can't understand the league just splits in 2? and they have a top6 and bottom 6 league?

Some other leagues in Europe do it.

Don't look at MLS. That'll blow your mind haha
