Szmodics is in his 30s now and has had one season in his career when he's been prolific. People need to realise that was an exceptional season (for him, less so for Blackburn who did better after he left) and not his normal level of performance. | |

That was in a totally different system and team and was a couple of years ago now.
I just don't think he offers as much as other options.

In principle they both have the attributes to play as a 10 in our system or in any system really, but they haven't shown enough when they've played. Both have had one excellent season in their career and a lot more mediocre ones so I think the simpler explanation is that neither of them are quite as good as we hoped they would be rather than it being a system issue per se. | |
