It’s a bit flat in there isn’t it? 01:43 - Dec 21 with 2553 viewsJoey_Joe_Joe_Junior

On the one hand, that first half didn’t give a lot for the fans to get behind, on the other, it actually can’t be a particularly nice crowd to play in front of at times. The loudest you can hear is groaning sometimes. Not like we are a high tempo team too often this season but it really was quiet, especially until we got the second.

Glad we got it done in the end even if making hard work of it. Results went nicely as well. Kind of felt like a game we just needed to turn up and we’d win, arrogant to say but the talent levels were almost as stark as what we were up against last year.

Was really hoping McAteer would score in his cameo, hard not to feel for him a bit.

The 11am from LST had of us Yankees on it ;) Nice to see some of the investors over with their families as well.

Striker and central midfielder still needed in January.

I remember a period around Oct/Nov 2023 when we were really storming it but conceded late on in 3-2 wins over Swansea and Plymouth – our fans could barely bring themselves to applaud the players off the pitch. We were in "poor form" back then according to some, it was all terribly concerning.

Think the vibes are a bit weird now too at the moment if I'm honest, the season started flatly but you'd think we were the worst team ever to occupy third place. The direction of travel is very clear but there aren't that many who seem prepared to enjoy the ride and see where it goes.

Regarding your final paragraph, as I have said previously, we are occupying the play off places by virtue of having the best players at our disposal who are mostly playing as a very average team. I can’t think of a single 90 minute performance this season where I’ve had my breath taken away. We haven’t blown a team away in the way Leeds did us at Elland Road in 2023. If we had poor players performing at our current level then we would be well off it.

If things click in the next month, and we have the best players at our disposal playing as the best team un the division then there is every reason to believe we will be in one of the automatic promotion places.

McKenna will be doing everything in his power to make sure that happens. The fans just have to calm down a bit and get behind the manager and team.

We battered Sheffield United senseless, there's one team we blew away. I just think people need to remember what the Championship is – that there are two teams on the pitch every week and for all the dirge that the division is "poor", everyone knows each other inside out and the tactical level is one of the highest in the world. The chances of thrilling everyone for 90 minutes a week are really small, not sure even Coventry have done that much. What counts is getting the results and since August finished that is what we've done, often in a pretty convincing way.

I said a 90 minute performance. If anything Sheffield United had the better chances in the first half before Ben Godfrey decided to show why some of the recent rumours about his impending retirement may be true.

We have had two exceptional 2n halves against Sheff Utd and Norwich and took our chances in the second half against Coventry, but the rest has all been a bit meh. But a functional meh that sees us in third.

IMO, and it is just my opinion, we haven't got the team playing anywhere near the potential that is clearly on offer. There may be mitigating circumstances and I don't doubt we will be in 6th gear by mid February. But that is my honest assessment. We are where we are because this is a poor Championship this season.

If the Sheffield United of last year, Sunderland, Burnley and Leeds were in the division this season then I think automatic promotion would be already be beyond us. As things stand I think we have a realistic chance of overtaking both Boro and Coventry.

edit. My post is probably coming over as being rather negative but I have 100% faith in the manager to get the best out of this squad and Ashton to plug the much needed gaps up front and in midfield.

The thing is

Bookies, pundits, had us favourites, our own players talk of being every ones cup final, why? because of our spend and who we signed

Managers talk of our squad, managers talk about or players

KM talks of high expectations, he acknowledged those expectations, he said the players need to rise up to those expectations.

However, some fans feel some other fans shouldn't have any expectations. Yet everyone who plays the game or managers in it, expects it and understands it.

I don't think I've seen anyone say we shouldn't have expectations for a successful season, I have seen plenty push back against entitlement when results or performances aren't always great though.

There is a significant difference between the two.

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun. I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

Is there?

Say young gives a press interview and says we are a teams cup final
We then go onto lose said game or dont perform in it.

Is it still wrong for a fan after that game to bemoan the game considering young himself effectively set the tone...

I think thats the crux of the issue

Km is on possibly his 4th game now himself bemoaning the tail of two halves and performance differences. I think most of the moans are of this manner too. Granted some horrid stuff on other socials about individual players but as I know full well. Moron gonna moron.

I think PR will get back to it best once that first half jitter is taken away. No one wouod have expected that first half yesterday after seeing it a few times recently at some point KM will get that sort of half changed and the roaring pr will return as will everyone's nerves.
