| I dunno what’s worse 14:56 - Dec 26 with 3008 views | Mullet | That yet again we have no team spirit or cohesion or that we are competing in the playoff places with an injury hit Millwall, managed by Alex Neil. Largely another afternoon of frustration, dross and anti football we had no answer to. Maybe we got lucky with that offside flag, maybe it kept things honest, but how we aren’t mile ahead of crap like that is a mystery to me. | |

| I dunno what’s worse on 10:01 - Dec 27 by Funge | I'm in a very similar place to you with all this. The football we play, considering the money invested in this team, is poor. It comes together upon occasion - Philo's lovely goal against Stoke a good example - but far, far too often we've seen performances like yesterday. Someone else made the point that the Millwall keeper didn't have a save to make, which is *absolutely* wild. Again I've seen posters on here bemoaning 'entitlement' on the part of us pessimists - not sure how to counter that; this is a desperately, desperately poor league this year, and we are currently 13 points off a fairly good Cov team - fairly good as opposed to excellent. (I think Lampard is pretty over-rated, but that's another story). This transfer window - we need cover for Davis & Matu, along with 2 x strikers and a proper No. 10, in my opinion. I think we might get 2 of those 5 players in (that pessimism again....). It's apparently impossible to buy strikers in 2025, though, so god knows. [Post edited 27 Dec 10:03]

It's been near-impossible to get the right quality strikers for a long time now. They are pricey and chased by a lot of clubs. We got Hirst and Moore in and took a punt on some others of which Delap paid off but the others haven't. We really need to get the right one (or better two) in now. Is it possible Southampton would cash in on Armstrong? I doubt it, but that is the sort of player we need. I am sure nodge wouldn't sell to us again but their new young striker is another who would be a good buy looking at what he is doing right now. Two players like that who know where the net is and can put themselves about too. Additionally we need more in midfield or Cajuste to step up his consistency. I think he has improved his end product but it needs to be more often than it has been and without him going missing in games. Again, Hackney would be an ideal signing but I won't be expecting that to happen this window. A big one to identify the right players.

I hope we can find some more gems in Europe - Matisuwa has been absolutely brilliant, and a steal at that price. Definitely a premium for players in England (McAteer). I get Azon hasn’t been a success, but with no upfront fee at least it was a low risk signing.

Notwithstanding the fact that Ronald McDonald up front for the budgies is pretty short of form, that's a signing that would make some sense - a chance for him to re-connect with Nunez. Plus those pricks would absolutely, absolutely hate it, which is a huge and welcome bonus. The other budgie you reference- Makoma? - only seen a little of him, but he seems strong. Honestly though, I haven't seen enough to make a judgment. Armstrong would be a terrific signing - absolutely the calibre we need for this league.

Should have got Armstrong two seasons ago when saints first come down, pushed the boat out ideal in our one dimensional system,

I mean, that’s brilliant but offers us absolutely nothing. If you thought that performance was us showing fight and togetherness, that Millwall weren’t massively depleted and utter sh1te that’s fair enough. But you’re not adding anything here

The problem is some people are desperate to be liked and think they need to fish for votes and slag fans off incessantly without offering anything but noise. It’s always been thus. The big issue with this “entitlement” is they simply don’t understand what we are as a club now. The Prem wasn’t some novelty jolly we are only allowed every generation. It’s the base all of the ownership, it’s the whole reason they are here and doing what they are doing. That includes massively shelling out on McKenna and these players. We all know what happens when that goes wrong and owners lose their bottle and enthusiam. But in the short term, the fact we seem to have a lack of identity and confidence is clear to see. It should be the main worry for everyone. McKenna isn’t here because he loves Ipswich, it’s incidental to a man with ambition and transactional relationship with the club. He’s not going to want to miss out on another prem offer or season as failure here might close that door for even longer. We’ve come down with a huge advantage and two parachute teams in different types of a mess. The fact we had these people bleating “well we beat Coventry” should be the biggest alarm to our current position and the quality of our peers. The fact they are constantly binary and exclusionary is their problem. If people can’t see the quality we have and the wastage of the current season so be it.

| I dunno what’s worse on 20:24 - Dec 27 with 207 views | stonojnr | Anyone remember that game against Port Vale in League 1 near the end of the season. They scored first, parked the bus and our team of super super players, you know the ones everyone claims we are missing now who were footballing gods apparently, spent the next 45mins, after we got a goal back, grinding out a win in league 1 at home that only came when a slightly dubious penalty was awarded late in the game. How its a mystery to you when its always been this way my whole life following town, im not sure how to answer | | | |

McK never had a clue how to break down the low block since Day 1. Not only Port Vale. The Cheltenham, Lincoln, Morecambe games were just as bad or even worse and that was the reason why Plymouth pipped us to the title. BUT the issue here is after spending £150 million or thereabouts we still have no clue to break down mediocre teams playing low block with our supposedly superior and Championship "all-stars" players. There's a difference in expectation when you field an XI costing £10 million and one costing close to £100 million. Right now there seems to be no discernible improvement. That is the biggest worry. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I suppose the main difference is that your take on the game was pessimistic where my two friends and I left the game feeling somewhat optimistic. I also saw no evidence of our showing no fight or Millwall, however depleted, being absolute sh!te.
