I include myself in this group, the one that believed Cajuste would tear up the Championship, that he was a 'cheat code' at this level and I looked forward to the free-flowing football he would help produce this season.
Well, how wrong I was. The occasional 10-20 minutes of pure silk is not enough. He is a passenger, there for an easy ride, a stroll in the park. What impact did he have yesterday? Same as every game, limited. Where is his work rate? Matusiwa has to do twice as much with Jens alongside him.
Yet, he is a favourite of McKenna who, despite the evidence he does not have the workrate for a double-pivot midfield, keeps trying him there only to realise that it hasn't worked again and bring him off around 65-70 minutes because the show pony is knackered again.
Will I be bewitched again when Jens does something beautiful like his run for Philogene's goal against Wednesday? Probably. Will I be deceived into thinking he should start in a double-pivot? I hope not.

Let’s call it for what it is, he has been utterly abysmal this season. I was one of the very few I think that wasn’t particularly bothered whether we signed him again last summer or not.

We went from Hackney to him, and when the Saudis didn’t even want him in the summer, that should’ve been a massive red flag for us.

Send him back in a few days, IMHO.

I’m like you as I wasn’t particularly bothered either when we were after him in the summer (but I don’t know why as obviously he is a good footballer ) perhaps I felt we needed a fit box to box player.

I was bothered as a fully fit and mobile cajuste owns this league.

Unfortunately his knees are fked. Let's just be honest about it all and send him back and forget it.

Yep on the first bits, he's the same player we saw last season. Classiest player on the pitch in moments but outrun in most moments. I hoped he'd cope with the pace of this league better but it's still too fast for him to be an effective starter in our midfield 2.

That said he has brought excitement as an attacking sub. I'd like to keep him for that purpose if funds allow.

I think we will be in for another CM in January, we won't be able to get Hackney so I guess it's either a PL loan, someone from abroad I don't know or perhaps someone like Louza from Watford.

SB

Louza has been the outstanding opposition player I have seen us face this season, having watched the majority of our home and away games. It could have been a one off, as I've not watched anything else of Watford.
But he really impressed me.

He's the league's best player on the site Sky uses for player ratings, whatever that's worth aha - only seen once myself too, when he was very good. https://www.whoscored.com/regi

He just doesn’t influence the game enough. He had that one moment yesterday in the first half when he went past a couple of players and shot over, but I can’t recall anything else he did in the game.

For a big loan fee and no doubt 20k - 30k a week, he contributes less than free transfer Massimo did.

He got an assist for both goals in their away win against Leicester

Never been a fan.

Last season our midfield got overran and torn apart every game. Morsy took the rap, but the guy next to him got a free pass because he had a couple of snazzy moves. Never understood why he never got criticised for his defensive play and work off the ball. And he had only one goal and one assist to his name last season. So overrated.

We know Kieran has a blueprint. And we were most successful with two energetic workers in Morsy and Mass buzzing about in midfield putting their foot in, win̈ning ball and getting us on the front foot. So why go for a show pony like Cajuste?
Pretty much everyone thinks we need another CM next to Matusiwa and that just shows how much Cajuste hasn't lived up to expectations.
