| Genuinely…does anyone see a team below us having enough to put a run together? 03:56 - Jan 2 with 3012 views | tractorboy1978 | With their squads, if Southampton/Leicester/Birmingham were closer then maybe but we are already double digit points ahead of them all. There is nobody below us that is capable of more than average play off form for me. | | | | |

BUT, this is the Championship. Any team can go on a run/slump so I wouldn't rule any of those teams out.

| Genuinely…does anyone see a team below us having enough to put a run together? on 09:26 - Jan 2 by ArnoldMoorhen | Your Boro info may be a smidge out of date... 1 point from 12. They won the one before that, so 4 from 15. I think they haven't scored in those matches, either. Watford have the best form over 5: 12 points Then us, Hull and Wrexham with 10 points from 15. Nobody is on a streak of more than 4 wins (Watford) with Wrexham on 3. It's not going to be a "three teams on mid 90s points" season. |
Crunching the numbers, I think anything from 85-86 points and above probably clinches 2nd place this season. 41-42 points required from 21 matches. Win 8-9 of our home games and we only need to pick up 5-6 wins on the road. On a side note - Coventry have Birmingham and Leicester in their next 2 games. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that we could be just three points behind Cov if we can beat Pompey and Blackburn.

It’s the championship so any team could easily go 10 unbeaten and be very close to us if we slip up. Long, long way to go yet
| Genuinely…does anyone see a team below us having enough to put a run together? on 10:47 - Jan 2 with 374 views | _CliveBaker_ | That's always been the thing that's given me most confidence, its not so much the position of the sides around us but the depth and quality of them, and I'd include Boro in that. We don't need to reach a points total, we need to get more points relative to 22 other clubs. The fact some of the more fancied ones at the start of the season have had slower half seasons than expected has left it all there for us. There's a lot of good teams, ones capable of ticking along at 1.6 - 1.8 ppg, but I don't see any that will put together the sort of form that would leave us with no margin for error. I said before Oxford we had 11 games in Jan & Feb and needed 7 wins, anything else is a bonus. We've got 1, if we can win at Pompey that'll set us up brilliantly going in to the FA Cup break. A win at Pompey would also mean 44 points from our last 22 games, that's 2ppg since the end of August, maintaining that for the final 20 games would likely see us top 2. I think we're capable of better, I don't think we necessarily need to be though. | | | |

| Genuinely…does anyone see a team below us having enough to put a run together? on 18:28 - Jan 2 with 193 views | BloomBlue | Any team in this league - well maybe not the bottom 4 or 5- should still have ambitions to get into the playoffs. There are still plenty of points to play for and the gap really isn't massive from approx 18th upwards. Now will any of those lower teams put a good enough run in, not sure, but its feasible. Look at Sheff U, they are now only a point behind Southampton. | | | |

Boro will get their mojo back and I think they will still be our biggest challengers for an auto place. And don’t discount Wrexham. They will strengthen in Jan and have a lot of momentum from back-to-back promotions.
