If the press stories are true, owners interfering with team selection, then that will put a number of managers/first team coaches off going there.

I think a more likely scenario is that they go for Glasner or Iraola and a vacancy then comes up at Palace or Bournemouth. Even in that situation I still think he stays to see the job through.

Unless a top 8 club come in, I can’t see him leaving us mid season. Especially when he can add another promotion to his CV and have another crack at the Prem with less pressure.

All a bit tenuous and might mean nothing but...my daughter was at a party before christmas and a friend's father, well connected apparently, told her that McK was leaving us. Wouldn't say where he was going. This was before there was a vacancy.

He’d be mad to go there. I get it could be a life changing amount of money, but they are truly a basket case and it’s the money men running the team not the manager.

Rosenior heavily linked given the ownership but honestly who wants that job. As an aside I think Maresca did okay, their squad is filled with a lot of mediocrity and miles of Man City and Arsenal.

Given he nearly left for Palace a couple of years ago and their manager will go now or at season’s end, I think McKenna might well go there. Maybe a Brighton or even Man U, given the unpopularity of their manager.

I hope I’m wrong, but if I’m not I hope Ashton and his merry men are doing the background work for a successor now.

I think Kieran leaves in the summer when we are promoted. He’ll leave having delivered a third promotion and a Town legend. He’d be ready for the next step up if he has any ambition to be an elite manager.

Not dissimilar but I just feel that, to enhance his reputation and make himself an attractive proposition for a PL side, McKenna would need to secure our promotion this term AND make a decent fist of keeping us up next. So January next year as a possible earliest exit point?

Maybe that's wishful thinking on my part.

If he wants the Man. Utd. job that is the type of track record McKenna needs to build, and the timescale needed for Amorim to appear to be unable to restore them to former glories.

I think he'd get a premier league job when he wants one without that tbh, he's already turned some down. He's a smart bloke, he's on big money and he knows he's very secure in his job at Town. I do think it would take something quite special to attract him away right now when we're potentially 4 months away from promotion. If Spurs or United came calling fair enough, I expect he'd go, I'm not sure that's likely though. I'm not sure I see much appeal in taking over a Palace right now though tbh.

Don't worry, according to some people who sit near me, McKenna is a one-trick pony who has no Plan B. We will be better off without him.

I mean, they've been a bit quieter over the past few weeks. But they're still there.

Apart from the ownership link, Rosenior would be an odd choice for a club as ambitious as Chelsea. Failed to get Hull promoted and still has Strasbourg in mid table in a not very strong French league. I'm sure he'd take it though as chances to manage a really big club don;t come around too often, although he (or anyone else taking the job) would know they were odds onto last less than a season.

I'm hoping the fact that managing Ipswich is such a well paid and exciting ongoing project it will keep McKenna here, committed to establishing us in the top flight. What's the hurry for him, he's already hinted that he can't see himself working as a manager too far into old age, and is well settled and liking Suffolk life with his family. My hope (dream) is he stays, helping to establish Ipswich in the premiership with an attrtractive style of playing (in front of a 40 thousand stadium) . Then would be his time to take his pick of the more desirable top job/s in Europe for the final 10 years or so of his career. Nothing wrong with starting the year with a bit of positivity..

I agree with you. He still needs to prove himself in the Premier League to become a target for the likes of Chelsea. I would be more worried if Chelsea went for Glasner or Ireola, Palace or Bournemouth more likely to take a chance on KMK.

Could Glassner go to Chelsea ? If so would Palace then go for McKenna?

I suspect it's unlikely Chelsea will go for Glasner mid-season. His style his the polar opposite to Chelsea's current style. More worryingly, they are not a million miles away from how we are playing this season (a more patient build up, more possession based).

Still, jumping ship to Chelsea atm feels like a big risk for any manager however experienced.

I don’t. Needs to prove himself in the Prem now. Those teams took a punt before he had a season in the Prem. Now they have seen he didn’t take to it very well they will need some convincing. If we go up he stays a season at least. If we don’t go up, well, he is here for another season anyway.
