Loan with a view to permanent? How likely is this ? I have been told we are in talks .

Can’t see it, been linked with Frankfurt for months. He’d be perfect for us, McKenna wanted him before, I’d be pleasantly surprised.

I'm in the minority I think but I'm not a fan of Osula at all.

As stated though was basically a Frankfurt player for about 30mil a couple weeks ago. Cant seeing him ending up here.

Well the move to Frankfurt a couple of weeks which was apparently close seems to have stalled so there might be an outside chance we could do something which would be great in my eyes.

I'd say very unlikely. All the noise seems to suggest serious interest from German clubs, and that he is keen to make that move. £25m fee seems the likely number.

If Newcastle do want to sell, he'd have a whole host of European teams after him.

I've heard that there is legitimate interest in Wilson, if true, I think we're going to be looking to bring in short term fixes this window to get us promotion and spend big in the summer.

Think loans are the best bet regarding a striker no good spending 15 to 20 millon go up then have to sell for half what we paid as the championship is there ceiling.

Am I the only one missing something with Osula?

He's a 22 year old forward who's scored 4 professional league goals in 68 appearances.

Someone please tell me what I'm missing?

I don't like him after I tried to sign him on a free on FM22 and wasted £20k on a work permit application that was turned down. That's a lot for Alfreton Town.

I've been told that I repeat this too often and people find it condescending.

I don't mean it to be the later but I make no excuse for repeating myself.

What KM wants from a forward is goals (no question) but it's only one part of the much wider mix. That role sets our press, links up play, drops deeper, harries, runs the channels, defends from the front and more.

Now Osula fits many of the attributes needed for that role, pace, physical presence, technical ability and more. For me (yes, goals aside), he's exactly the type of player we need in that striker role. At 22 as well....nuff said.

I disagree on the technical ability and ability to link play.

Hes very fast, good runner in behind and a good presser. I think he is pretty limited on the ball. Really poor first touch whenever I have seen it and really lacks any sort of composure in front of goal. For the money he would cost I wouldn't be interested.

Can probably get better for less overseas.

He's better technically then given credit for. His dribbling and skillset are generally good to very good when I've seen him but I will say he can work on his first touch for sure, but I wouldn't say it's poor.

Yes, his goal scoring (as I have said) can improve but that's, as I've said, just part of the wider mix KM wants from that role.

22, Prem player with a lot of attributes that suit us very well, IMHO.

The fact he's made double figures appearances already for Newcastle this season and is rumoured to be wanted by Frankfurt and Villa would suggest he's got something about him, not to mention the £20m price tag on his head. It probably also implies his next stop won't be the Championship though.

I think it's unlikely he'll end up here but I will say he's the sort of player we should be looking to sign.

Yeah wasn't discrediting what you were saying, the opposite probably. He's clearly thought to have a bit about him.

are we interested in Calum Wilson?

As he was born in Coventry and a graduate of their academy, I was expecting him to sign for them.

He's injured, been out for 2 months and isn't fit. Earliest return is February. With this, and interest from Villa & the Bundesliga, I think this is way off the mark.

I would never claim to be ITK, or be one to perpetuate rumour, but I do have a friend with some status at one of the larger sports publications, he often covers Town and his understanding is that Wilson has been invited to the club this weekend for talks (We also aren't the only club to initiate contact). Make of that what you will, but there tends to be some truth to the links he discusses. It certainly wouldn't surprise me if it does happen.

I too had assumed he was nailed on for a Cov return, but maybe with 3 strikers who all seem to be performing, he hoped for assurances over playing time that the club couldn't give. A crazy time the January window!

For people saying he’s going to Frankfurt, you may have missed the fact they’ve already recently signed a 22-year-old physical striker…
