If his contract wasn't expiring uou'd be looking at between 60 and 80 million for guehi but it's effectively take the offer now or risk losing him for free in the summer.

I assume he's not happy there either after having a deadline day move to Liverpool blocked

Paying £15 million for 6 months or what 20 odd games, after which he'd be free? Wouldn't say cheap, probably about right given his quality but that's not chump change.
