If Germany alone boycotted, it would be embarrassing for Germany. If all European nations pulled out it would be an embarrassment for Trump and overshadow HIS world cup.

It would be hard on Mexico and Canada if the World Cup was extensively boycotted though, maybe just switch fixture intended to be played in the United States to venues south of the Rio Grande or north of the Great Lakes. |
If all of the big football nations were to publicly state that they are only prepared to compete on the basis that all of their fixtures- including vs USA are played in Mexico or Canada there would be a delicious double whammy of hitting the USA economically as well as putting FIFA in a real dilemma….sanctions against countries like Argentina, Brazil, Germany and possibly England etc would only serve to do more damage to their brand. |  | | |

I find it laughable that Fifa's stance is that football and politics shouldn't mix (which I do agree with to be fair) but then Infantino is seen lauding over Trump at every opportunity and makes up a reward to give him.
It contradicts everything they are meant to be about so no suprise that this might happen. Seems a waste of potential arthritis typing this but Fifa needs a serious shake up. |  | | |

Agreed. I don't think Germany would boycott without getting assurances from other that they will too.
As you say, 1 team not there isn't going to make any different 7+ top teams boycotting would be a big difference. | | | |
