Shame as was thinking , especially if no striker signed this window, that he would be someone we would be interested in this summer. Assuming of course we were a Premier League club.

Poll: Dickhead "Noun" a stupid, irritating, or ridiculous man.

I can't tell you why but I've always thought he's a really underrated player.

Wouldn't have been unthinkable, big wages no doubt but I presume Ashton was at Bristol City when he was there. Very good player, I'd like to see him back in the premier league tbh even if it is with Villa. I don't watch any Italian football so it would be good to see another English forward playing at the top level. Hopefully scoring plenty and might give Tuchel another option in the summer.

I'd agree. I don't think he's ever really cut it at the highest level, other than a purple patch for Chelsea years ago

They could have one and we have the other?

I think it’s more than just a link with Villa, more like a hot and seemingly almost complete pursuit.

I’m really not ITK other than my son is a Villa fan and has been tracking various websites for days now - all the signs point to an imminent deal, especially as they sold Donyell Marlen last week.

It’s not done until it’s done though. Let’s see.

If we do go up I think him coming here would be a stretch though - he’d have plenty of opportunities elsewhere. Good player.

My Chelsea mate reckoned he was a good prospect who has wasted his career away. The truth of it? No idea. He’s 28 now and if his career has dribbled away after that serious knee injury, the last thing we need is another Phillips scenario if we do make it to the Premier.

His career seems to have been a series of loans since Chelsea. Due to the contract he’s on? Certainly he’s played for a few big name clubs.

I believe that he's on loan in Turkey at the moment.

Think if we go up this season, most of our summer business will be from Europe.
With the exception of Guiu (Loan) and Adingra from Brighton all of Sunderland's transfer activity was from European leagues, and always from the top league.

Erdivisie x3
Ligue1 x2
La Liga x2
Jupilier Pro x2
Bundesliga x2
Turkish Super League x1
Serie A x1
