& gets out to a brainless attempt at a shot. He doesn't deserve to be close to an England set up. The guy seems to be immune to working on his game & eradicating his bad shots. Who is responsible for him? He just stands still, never moves his feet, & thrashed at wide balls outside the off stump. Does no one administer any discipline??

I’ve had a soft spot for Crawley - I know it’s not normal but when he’s on it he’s a lovely batsman to watch. Saw his knock today and he looked all over the place, suspect he knows his race run and objectively it surely should be. I really wanted him to do better but he’s just not got enough runs.

I’ve seen him live once - his day at Old Trafford in the Ashes, so also have a soft spot for him. I think Hussain said - he’s played all those games, he averages 33, if he plays another 100 he’ll probably average the same. I was willing him to do well in Australia and sadly he didn’t, think it is time for someone else.

He has a worse First Class average than Adil Rashid (and they have both played the same amount of innings).

That was a hell of a knock and the sort of thing romantically I clung on to.

I felt a bit like I did about Stuart Slater.

He plays some wonderful shots, such a shame he can’t seem to add that bit of substance to his game to get the runs that his talent could do.

The sad thing is I cling on to a hope he still comes good!

Although he’s a had a very generous run in the team already I must concede.

Harry Brooks comments post match were funny, it was a game where they had to adapt to conditions apparently...and weve watched them doing that so well after being repeatedly told it since November 🤣

Also I loved the team selection, basically whoever bats first wins the game this time of year in Sri Lanka, because of the dew under lights spin bowling becomes very key thing is you have to win the toss to make that call.and we still packed our line up with batting, not bowlers because thats the Bazball way.

The ODI team is in genuine danger of not qualifying for the World Cup. The idea that McCullum should continue as head coach across all formats is ridiculous, we're going backwards in all formats.

I dear Keno, we’ve both hit a nerve with Dave U.

Unfortunately it just doesn't happen for some at Test level. Maybe its temperament but it seems just pointless just to perservere with no evidence that its going to change. He certainly can't say he's been given a fair chance.

Look at Ramprakash and Grame Hick. I'd say far more talented players than Crawley, beautiful to watch but just failed miserably when it came to Test cricket.

I like Crawley but he seems to be living on one score of 200+. He's just not got the mental application to be a Test opener.

The fact he has been given 1 day opportunites and also failed must surely mean it's over for him.

I think England need a reset in terms of selection and approach to their play at all formats of the game.
