Im looking at March. but 160 plus to get to London, from a shorter distance than London to Bruges makes flights look more attractive. Lunacy.

In answer to my own question, it seems they ceased stopping at Ashford in 2020. Which is a shame.

TBF it is the best rail service in Europe though. Isn't it? It must be. Surely?

Supposed to be reinstating Ashford as a Eurostar stop shortly. But back to the op, train fares in this country seem designed to motivate you back into the car. Prices are outrageous.

Agreed - had our first wedding anniversary there back in 2023. Can highly recommend a boat trip, the beer experience, and the Friets museum. Chocolate museum is worth a visit too, if you don't mind it glossing over the whole 'Belgium in Africa' side of things (you're expected to believe that chocolate just magically arrived in Belgium...).

was thinking never had a problem getting cheap hotels in Bruges, but then realised probably havent been for 10 years :D shame the old ferry service has gone, you could effectively weekend it and sleep on the ferry though I cant believe no one has mentioned the swans yet, I guess its just not peoples kind of thing ;)
