I’m sure Walton’s was for him going over to the player afterwards and not the challenge. I don’t know whether he was trying to pull him up or suggesting their player made a meal of it (he didn’t) but the SU players clearly took exception. I’m surprised they didn’t get a booking too for the reaction. Normally handbags end up with a booking for each party. |
I am sure there was a ref not so long ago who justified booking one of our players at random because whenever there is a melee they have to book one from each side. I guess players have poor games and so do refs. Not many of our players (if any) did better than the ref did they?

I'm surprised he didn't book his assistant for encroaching on the pitch or Kipre for throwing his chin on to the Blunt players elbow [Post edited 26 Jan 13:33]

Yeah, ref was poor and struggling to control things

| Sorry if already asked on 13:53 - Jan 26 by longtimefan | What was the opinion of those watching on TV when O'Shea was penalised at one of our corners, where it looked in real time that Hamer had rugby tackled him? Ref gave them a free kick but it didn't appear that O'Shea did anything other than try to move. Haven't seen it in any highlights since to form a better judgement. |
Yep totally the other way round. Ref was awful. Missed elbow on kipre, missed dive by their winger and didn't control all the constant confrontation from their players.

Replay on 1hr 19m 46s https://www.itfc.co.uk/videos/ Then, after the fourth official stopped the physio from coming on, the ref sent Furlong to the byline even though they never entered the pitch. Do they even still have referee assessors? |
Yes they do have assessors. The video of every incident alongside the headset audio is also clipped and reviewed so mistakes are highlighted and shared across their peers. It's a tough gig at the top - especially after a bad game or run of them. I'm full of admiration for the refs and assistants but the guy on Saturday had a shocker.

Looking at replays, Walton’s foot came up as he dived and the scorer slid onto it face first. Walton did not kick him

I think it was the twenty rolls in agony that Furlong made after one incident. If you're that injured you don't move, and it struck me that Furlong was just trying to get the other person booked. But we were losing, so it struck me he was only wasting our own time. Not surprisingly the ref didn't let him back on, even though there appeared nothing wrong with him, but Furlong took umbrage at this which further provoked the crowd. [Post edited 27 Jan 16:11]

That was the Delap booking at the end of the Wolves away game last season.

Furlong was absolutely playing it up and deserved the boos.
