Our strikers and their xG 19:40 - Jan 26 with 2974 viewsdingus

This is quite interesting. I've seen lots about our strikers not bring all about goals, which i agree with to a degree, but Azon still has the third highest xG per 90 in the league. Akpom in top 10. There's someone else massively underperforming, but annoyingly the chart doesn't have the name, could be Hirst. I think it shows there are goals there for a number 9 if we had one who took their chances.

I assume the two town players in the top left, as overperformers, would be Philogene and Clarke.

I'm not always the greatest fan of xG, but I think it has some merit here.

We must have at least enquired about Vipotnik.

People have kindly explained it on here, I’ve watched YouTube, I’ve even had an Explain it like I’m 5 answer from ChatGPT and I still don’t understand XG. And that chances created thing is even more confusing.

I'm with you on this - however it's been explained, I still don't get it or understand what it shows.

I understand if player X crosses or passes the ball and player Z scores, X has an assist, and Z has a goal.

That is still the only defining stat that changes games in my understanding, and I'm happy enough with that.

He’s put a decent amount of balls into a dangerous area, without the final touch been applied. Appreciate he has also missed some big chances himself, but his numbers and confidence could be very different.

He’s not the purest footballer I’ve ever seen, but he’s a hell of an athlete, seems to have a real personality and character for the game, and when he keeps his game simple, he reminds me of a Wes Burns replica in some respects.

He looks like he has some good raw ingredients but he is still tuned to how Leicester played rathed than ourselves

If he could learn to go round the outside and that penalty spot cut back, he'd be a lot more dangerous

Hopefully he can learn from Burns

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

It's quite straight forward. All they do is count the number of people who shout 'you farkin donkey, my granny could have scored that and she's been dead 10 years!'. The more shouts, the higher the xG.

Easy.

For me, Azon's xG also backs up the 'eye test'.

He's mobile, seems to be in the right place at the right time, but is not scoring through a few really 'unlucky' (however you want to dress it up) moments....that save last week being one, it's a goal nine times out of ten against any other keeper imo.

As we know, numbers don't tend to lie and over the course of the season, I expect Azon to converge towards his dataset. I have every confidence.

Basically, it's sh1t. Total nonsense, just like loads of other phrases and ideas brought into what should be, and was until recently, a simple game.
XG, 10, 8, 6, Inverted, low block etc - what a load of old b0ll0x.
