Yeah, that is one of the issues. I suppose lots of changes in staff in the hospitality sector and not all shift managers remembering to update new staff members. I'm in my late 40s now, but when I was in my 20s, I encountered a few situations where I felt unsafe, but couldn't say so in the presence of the threatening person, and ideas like this can stop women getting hurt, at the least, and save lives at the most. It's good to remind ourselves of the campaign now and then, so we're ready to help! The scenario on the show was a woman with a coercive husband, who asked the police officer who attended the incident "What did you say your name was - Angela?" Subtle, but the message was received. I'm presuming you are male? If you are, it's really good to know that the message is being put in the men's toilets, too. Firstly, that men are getting awareness, and secondly, it would not preclude a man from being able to use this to get help too. You never know in what danger a man could find himself, especially in an alcohol-fueled environment,. There's no shame in asking for help to be safe as a man, either. [Post edited 1 Feb 23:08]

I might be overthinking it, but it seems to me another issue might be that the once covert message is now so widely known that a coercive man sticking close to someone hes’s trying to control, would also be able to correctly interpret it, thereby putting his victim at greater risk once out of the public eye. A better method imho is the hand signal which the victim can show behind their back or on-screen & out of the perpetrator’s view - https://commons.wikimedia.org/ | |

Of course, this is also a possibility .The hand signal is definitely more subtle, and should be more widely publicised. [Post edited 2 Feb 11:08]
