Hopefully he’ll get a proper run of games now because I think he’s been woefully misused by KM so far, which is odd considering KM obviously knew what he could bring to the team and clearly wanted him in the summer. |

Not a dig at you directly, more at this thread. But, it would seem this is the reason.
McKenna clearly wants someone of Szmodics profile in the team, hence why saying "he won't leave unless the £ is right".
Over the course of yesterday it became more and more apparent that Szmodics wanted to leave in this window, likely to get guaranteed minutes ahead of the World Cup, especially with his last international appearance for Ireland coming against Hungary in September, and him looking increasingly unlikely to get a call up given his bit part role here. For all we know, the Irish management might well have told him as such.
Once it was clear that Szmodics had to go, the club then needed to find another player with a Szmodic profile who would be ok being a 'back up', enter Femi Azeez, we tried with three bids, but were knocked back on each, as they wanted a club record fee that we didn't want to pay, (Especially when only offering Szmodics back up role).
With us unable to get in a replacement for Szmods, but the player still wanting to go, the proposed Derby move suddenly changes from a potential perm to an end of the season loan. Not ideal only having 24 senior players, but we don't have an unhappy player in the squad either.

i just think if he gets a run there, he'd be this seasons version of last seasons delap, where he bulldozes his way to goals.
He won't be a hirst type, i think personally we've moved on from that requirement, it's having someone to bully the cbs, rough em up and get shots off. I think with Akpom once he has a run in that position, we'd start seeing that. But it can't be every other game, needs a run imo |
I'm sorry, this makes me question what most of our fans see... because roughing up centre halves is most of what Hirst is in the team for. He runs his socks off, harries, chases, backs in and fights for balls. |  | | |

Think your missing the point - that if we sign a third winger who scores 15 goals this season then we are going to do ok, wether we have a prolific striker or not. |
