| George Hirst 10:49 - Feb 8 with 3650 views | noggin | Something's not right with him. Is it just me that thinks he looks slightly distracted, or even disinterested? Whatever it is, he's not the player he was. With Scotland going to the World Cup, you'd think he'd be chomping at the bit to claim a place in their squad. | |

| George Hirst on 15:49 - Feb 8 with 499 views | FrimleyBlue | I have to be careful talking about hirst as one poster feels ive been to regular with him, but I do have to add the disclaimer that i was incredibly vocal about hirst not being played more last season as I felt we missed him, and i've always liked him. But this season, there's dips and there's regressing further than a blip and that's how I feel with hirst, yesturday he came on, I thought go on hirst, get out there bust a gut and get stuck in, bully your man etc, he was so powerpuff, he walked around, to the point that there was a half chance from a mcateer cross i think was who put it in and he just wasn't on his toes. I remember when Bonne went off the boil and that's how i feel with hirst this season, forget his scoring, that's never been his bag, but he's overall play is shockingly bad. I hear low confidence, but how does one recover such confidence? it's 7 months into the season . He is human however and for all we know he may be dealing with some physical issues or even away from football stuff, so i'll never agree with the fans being vocal at games, jeering etc. But from a footballing point of view only... he's been nowhere near good enough this season. I popped him down for friday lineup in hope it might reignite something in him. He's had it before. let's see it again. | |

| George Hirst on 13:37 - Feb 8 by noggin | Fair enough, we all see things differently. I'm not having a dig at him, just feel his body language is off this season. Nobody knows what's happening off the pitch. |
Lost his arrogance. Didn’t particularly like his ‘it’s what I do’ against Birmingham but recently he’s been a shadow of the player at the start of the season
| George Hirst on 16:15 - Feb 8 with 428 views | RetroBlue | Well let's see now, why might George Hirst not be being right? 1) section of Toen fans booing him, jeering him. 2) has lost his mojo for most of the season 3) puts pressure on himself maybe , asking for #9 shirt and all that is EXPECTED of that shirt. 4) Sees Azon starting to get his game together generally - more pressure How about we fans buck the booing trend, and actually sing his name ... where's HIS song? He's been here the longest of the forwards. Why no song? Let's make him feel loved... goes a lot further than boos or jeers! | |

He's lacking confidence and he's coming back from injury. There is nothing more to it. Hirst is a good championship striker. He's not at his best at the minute. We all hope/hope he can step up beyond the champ but not showing it and not even at his championship best at the minute. There is no ridiculous conspiracy nonsense here. He's not disinterested. He's probably frustrated it's not happening. He's probably forcing a bit. He's not at his instinctive/confident best. But Hirst will get his mojo back. What he really needs more than anything is the fans behind him. I'm absolutely sick of fans not supporting players to be honest. Plenty are supporting but we've got more than our fair share who Juno on players back the minute it isn't happening! Still....Cov fans are next level for this at the minute so we aren't the worst.

He has support, course you're gonna have some vocal who moan, but they are waiting for him after games to give him jip or booing when he's coming on, ( or are they? people mention boo;s but never really say when it happens) He's had a lot of support, a hell of a lot, it think it's unfair on those that travel and attend games to throw it out like the crowd aren't helping him.

| George Hirst on 12:02 - Feb 8 by Zx1988 | I think you're right on confidence. I can't remember which TV game it was (Coventry away?) but McAteer had a similar performance where he came on and looked as if he wanted to be anywhere else but on the pitch. |
Think that was the stick off Coventry fans for being ex Leicester…..just a thought . | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Have no idea, but I hope not. My point is some Town fans have been and at several games. Id imagine that will have knocked his confidence so those fans really do need to stop doing it, dont they because it destroys a player's confidence.

| George Hirst on 11:30 - Feb 8 by _CliveBaker_ | I don’t have an issue with that personally. It was a really poor ball from a player who was otherwise very good yesterday, but no reason why Hirst can’t give him a bit IMO. |
Agreed. Didn't look over the top as someone else said. It was such a simple pass and it was shockingly bad. He had every right to say what you doing
| George Hirst on 19:51 - Feb 8 with 172 views | armchaircritic59 | Yes, something isn't right, it's called loss of form. Something which even a few all time greats have suffered with on the odd ocassion. Forgive the rather odd comparison, but I call it tension, if you stretch an elastic band with the fingers of one hand and throw a small lightweight object at it with the other accurately, it will just ping off. I think this is George's problem. If he can get back to relaxing, his form will come back. It's most certainly not because he isn't trying. | | | |
| George Hirst on 21:24 - Feb 8 with 137 views | BeachBlue | I honestly think he's frustrated with his lack of goals and he's trying too hard to put it right. Yes it's easy to be clever when you're watching from the Sir Alf Upper, but I genuinely know how it feels to lose confidence at work and getting frustrated because you can't find your natural flow. No I'm not a professional footballer but the feeling applies to all humans. He desperately needs a goal or two, the speculation about needing a striker doesn't help him or Akpom or Azon either. But that's life, that's football and they have to get on with it. Yes everyone is entitled to an opinion at football, but there is a vocal minority (and it's a small minority) who just needs a scapegoat, seems it's Hirst's turn right now. Strange how it was Jack Clarke at the start of the season and now he's the fan favourite with Philogene. | |
