| Jam Roly Poly. 08:09 - Feb 11 with 1006 views | Benters | It’s a nice dessert on a cold wet day like today. I just googled it,other names for it include ‘shirt sleeve pudding’ ‘dead man’s arm’ or ‘dead man’s leg’. Good old land workers dessert that. [Post edited 11 Feb 8:11]

It's nice but it's no Battenberg.

Battenberg sounds a bit too German for benters.

| Jam Roly Poly. on 09:10 - Feb 11 with 834 views | DJR | I used to love tapioca, sago and semolina. They all came in tins, but my mother used to make her own semolina. And who can beat rice pudding baked in an oven with the top surface a mixture between light and dark brow? | | | | Login to get fewer ads

You can still get semolina in a tin from Ambrosia but it's almost as easy (and much cheaper plus you get control over the ingredients) to make yourself. Raja Stores in Ipswich (thanks for the heads up on this place J2) have a variety of semolinas as well as Sago. Great for people like me who suffer a bit in the stomach and intestines.

Is the correct answer. Unless you want something a bit foreign an exotic like Arctic roll

Apfelstrudel or Kirschstrudel ? And you don't have to worry about sounding German...it's Austro-Hungarian.

All three are dreadful. Nobody eats that slurry for a reason. Have a word with yourselves. Rice pudding is ok though.

Rice pudding is terrible, was forced to eat it as a child. Always had sympathy with Mary Jane. https://allpoetry.com/Rice-Pud

At risk of being reprimanded by my fellow EDL (English Dinner League) members, I have to agree. They are rock bottom of the desert table, as is rice pudding. Trifle is sitting pretty on top of the league looking down on them all

You can't beat a homemade sherry trifle. I'd also like to add rhubarb crumble and custard to the list.

Rhubarb crumble is beautiful! On my last stay in Hospital the lady serving the grub always laughed as my ward was full of old farts, and everyday we’d all ask for the same thing CUSTARD! She reckoned we were strange.. I think we only got it once in a week.
