Quite dark , not slapstick cup of tea and a slice of cake stuff, but having rewatched the original series a while back, it was darker than I remember as a kid! Worzel was a bit of a rascal, and Aunt Sally was a right piece of work. | | | |

It’s great. I’m 4 eps in. Has that lovely, gentle, meandering warmth. It’s like a comfort blanket against all the current awfulness out there. The Detectorists was quite simply as close to perfect telly as you can get. Small Prophets isn’t quite at that level, but it’s a joy to settle into. Mr Crook is a very talented man. |  |
