| Delap sell on 03:23 - Feb 22 with 1293 views | Perublue | In the BBC sport transfer gossipy thing it says “Everton are set to launch a £30m bid for Chelsea's 23-year-old English striker Liam Delap this summer. (Teamtalk)” I don’t recall but do we get anything if that goes ahead ? [Post edited 22 Feb 3:23]

I would buy him for 30 Mill, then pay ourselves back the sell on fee % ? and then we would buy him for less than we sold him to Chelsea, plus ask Man City for some of the sell on fee we had to pay them. Easy running the finance side of a football club !!!!!!! PS IT'S A JOKE

SB. Because of how the books work nowadays is there an outside change there would be profit. If Chelsea signed at 30 Mill but 5 year deal. But sold for 30 Mill after just one season.. haven't they made 4 years worth of profit because their books would only show the first year expedniture... Or would it not work like that?

It wouldn't impact the fee they pay us. They don't get to just pay £6m because he only stayed for a year of the five so there would be no profit.

| Delap sell on on 10:21 - Feb 22 with 552 views | Nutkins_Return | It will be on profit. I actually don't think Chelsea would sell for brek even though. He could really do with staying fit and he'll be an absolute asset to Chelsea. I think they would either keep him or it would take an inflated price of £40+ mil. Let's not forget they got him cheap because of the clause. He's going to be a top player. If they let him go they might look at a loan as if he goes to an Everton or someone he will play and his value will go right up | |

Sorry, but no - you’ve mixed up two very different things there.

Simplified example, but using your numbers £30m - 5 years: Year 1 -£6m for amortization Year 2 +£30m for sale and -£24m for his remaining value on the books. So a profit of £6m for year 2 That means in total there is £0m profit overall. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I don't believe you can amortise profit, any profit is on the actual full fee. Payments may be over time. SB
