the "too many changes" myth 23:42 - Mar 3 with 1115 viewspositivity

we've made 4 or more changes* to the team 17 times, getting a total of 34points (2.00 ppg)

we've made less than 4 changes* 16 times, for 28 points (1.75 ppg)

on the 3 occasions we've made no changes, we accrued a grand total of 0(zero) points...

seems like km knows exactly what we need!

Gosh that is quite the stat regarding zero changes.

Fresh legs certainly paid tonight with the goal coming during the round of substitutions but we had been on the front foot leading up to then. With the exception of Leif I felt the subs were not quite with it which suggests KMc knows the physical condition of some players rather more than a rent-a-quote on twitter!

Its a squad game, I doubt the players think they are being 'dropped' and I believe the freshness and fitness of the squad will be telling over the next 2 months

As I was saying very loudly before the game, absolutely 100% agreed with the changes from Saturday and was always confident it would work out. 😄

And 6 players are nailed on every week; Walton Furlong Dara Cedric Leif and Azor, which explains in some part how difficult we are to break down. Solid unit.

People STILL have the mindset that players are being dropped. You’d have thought 3 years would be long enough to notice it’s what he does when he has options to do so.

Thankfully the players buy into it. Not like the huffy Hull 7 who had a strop when he went off lol.

Also, just watched the extended highlights from last night. We created loads of really good chances and played some nice stuff.

Zero points from no changes? I would have never predicted that.

Interestingly, I thought there was too many changes last night when I heard the team. The fact we won the suggests KMc made the right call.

That said, had we of drawn 0-0 he left himself room to get hammered for the changes after such a convincing win Saturday.

+3 no one cares. +1 or worse and it was the wrong option.

KMc got it right..

I always smile when people compliment our magnificent bench, yet when those on the bench make the starting 11, KM has picked the wrong team!

It's a modern phenomena. Myths become fact with the easily swayed jumping on the latest trend to remain somehow relevant.

I don't blame them. It's just modern society's need to have an opinion heard just because you can.

We've heard them all before.

"Too many changes"
"Too slow"
"Two up top"
"Proper bloke, Tabby" (Ok. That was just Mick!)

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

Really interesting.

Managers are accountable. If last night had not gone well, KMac would have faced flak for making changes.

As it is, we won, yes we may have needed the cavalry in Leif, Mehmeti and to some extent Burns, but those players' legs have been managed, and they are fresher to start next time.

KMac deserves the credit when his calculated decisions go right. Three wins in a row, three clean sheets, newer players gelling well. He deserves the credit, and he gets it.

Mind you, I'll save some credit for Azor, though! What a chap...

Aha yeah I know, carrying a knock. 4 years constant football catching up with him at last. Nailed on when matchfit though.

To be fair he faced flak for making changes BEFORE the game even started. In some ways its become quite performative the flouncing pre game of certain types - pays to put social media / forums away once the line up has been announce!
