My goodness, that call is right up there with the Coventry disallowed goal in the FA Cup final as harsh, and everything I don't like about VAR offside rules.
The freeze frame has the forward's foot offside, but he is actually on his back foot and would have surely lost advantage when moving on to his front foot.
I know offsides are frequently missed in the lower leagues, but I actually think I prefer the error of the human eye to the line-drawing, autonomy of computers.
VAR is killing the romance and drama of football. Sigh.
And if that was in the 4th round there would have been no VAR and it would have stood. Fk var. This forensic analysis of some incidents is killing the game.

Clearly offside which is the rule, we can’t bitch about the penalties then…?
If Wrexham get promoted they can experience VAR every week. It was naive to wildly celebrate a goal when there is VAR in the stadium, as they need to wait a few minutes for the forensic examination of video footage first. This is sadly what football has become. I get bored watching on TV with constant talk of VAR checks happening, VAR checks being over etc.

There’s nothing in the rules about being on your back foot and losing advantage. I was disappointed too, as I thought Wrexham deserved at least a shot at penalties. Yet it was the right call annoyingly. What’s the point of rules if we can ignore them because we want to?
After today and Preston that’s what might keep us in the EFL!
Referee decisions usually even themselves out over a season.
Who knows if VAR would have disallowed some of our goals in other matches or given penalties against us. It would certainly impact our enjoyment of being able to celebrate our goals.

So we have to deal with the rubbish like today then.
The beautiful imperfect game we fell in love with was great wasn’t it, otherwise we wouldn’t be here. (When we had VAR against Leicester how did that work out for you)

I’m not particularly pro VAR (certainly not how it’s currently used) but it’s just a bit ironic on a day that Jack Clarke would have very likely won us a crucial game with VAR implemented, people are also talking about all the negatives of it.
Offside as well is basically one of the only decisions that isn’t subjective.

That’s just a saying with no evidence or stats behind it at all.
You can of course but you’d also be hypocritical if you want accurate decisions.
Joey JJJ, we all want accurate decisions. Of course we do. And we will all moan when we don’t get them. Because we are football fans. That’s been the case since I first watched the game. I’m pretty sure it goes back further than me.
But VAR has made the game worse, not better, even if it has made some decisions more accurate.

So get rid and bring on the moaning.
If that’s hypocritical, I’m not bothered.
I don’t particularly disagree but the Wrexham goal was offside, correct call. If we are routing for incorrect calls because of “a moment” that’s a different argument I guess. So many subjective ones are the issue and the implementation of it overall.
What are you on about? So you’re saying VAR was at our game today we wouldn’t have had a penalty?

I don’t want VAR at all. And there are numerous examples of VAR making mistakes so no, i have no confidence at all if the championship had VAR it would have given us a penalty.
Goal line technology, absolutely. The rest of it can get in the bin.

“Not particularly pro” some endorsement. How do you feel about VAR capturing the exact moment the ball is kicked. How far can a player run in the frames per second delay. Football , warts and all is better without it.

I'd rather be d7cked over like we were today than prostrate ourselves to the pedantic, pen-pushing scourge of VAR, which is by and for people who dislike football and has succumbed in numbingly predictable fashion to mission creep. It is getting worse, as it always was going to, and is destroying the sport.
